Pretty much, the drivers mirrors are easy to find, the convex passenger side mirror, not so much beer3.gif

Took a small detour from the workshop, and went to Aase Motors to pick up the black 2.0. A rather rare mid engine 6 was there, 1964 Platypus #001. Weighing in less than 1,500 lbs. 200 hp , right hand drive. Originally driven by Scooter Patrick. The engineering and packaging in this tube frame Porsche is awesome.

Had a few free hours yesterday afternoon, so drove the 'BB' down to the shop. Cleaned up a set of 2.2L heads and snapped some photos for Brant.

On the way down there, some knucklehead came out of a hotel parking lot (on my right) and made a left turn right in front of me new_shocked.gif
Fuchin tourist - I had to quickly apply the brakes, then almost as quickly, apply middle finger finger.gif

P.S. Looking around the shop, realized that there's a lot of stuff there that needs to find new homes - I'll be posting a lot in the classifieds soon dry.gif

yesterday, took my daugher to lowe's for their "build and grow" for the kids project. she is always pointing out other porsche s as we drive along. On the way home we saw several. saw a nice Cayman at the light, and later while passing a panomera about 5 miles down the highway(i ws making good time) when the Cayman pulled up along us he gave a big thumbs, and she says" daddy, i think she likes our car"
yes i believe there are more and more porsche owners that appreciate our little cars here on the right coast there are very few that you will see out on the road, maybe thats why they get a good bit of attention here.

eric9144
Did some small stuff, changed out the sun visors to the new ones from Sierra Madre beerchug.gif HUGE difference from my whopped in the @ss originals then did another small project I've just never taken the time for, changing out the "PRESS" stickers on the seat belts, 5 minutes time, big difference there too

Was sitting at work today when a guy pulls up in a late model Chevy. He walks in and asks about the 914 out front. I tell him it's mine and he told me about his find - a two-owner '72 that he found after a random stop along a country road. The elderly gentleman who owned it bought it from a friend who was original owner. It has been sitting for 25+ years due to a bad brake caliper huh.gif
A deal was struck and new owner now has a low-rust base 914 in very nice condition - no vinyl on targa bar, steel rims with hubcaps, original FI. Unfortunately, it has a bad color-change paint job (white) over the original red. dry.gif
I gave him info on this site and Okteenerfest so hope to see him around. cheer.gif

what did I do today...... I headed to the powdercoater in Orange CA / one of the hottest places on earth relative to the beach. I actually had to deploy my roof for the first time since WCR,... then......
sat on the side of the road many miles from the carpark in 100 degree heat waiting for the trusty AAA man..... I need the AA man..... now

My 405mile-new fuel pump died and redies when the car heats up

Just in time to have to bail on the wine tour tomorrow. WTF.gif

Does anyone have experience with this intermittent death to fuel delivery?? Fuses are good, fuel is new. fuel filter is as new as the pump. jumper wire in the relay board is good to go as well as the fuses therein...

Then, after a lovely afternoon of riding for two hours thru Friday afternoon traffic in SoCal, the friggin thing fired up instantly in my carpark in Laguna. very strange.

The good news is that this didn't happen in Temecula tomorrow with my lovely wife roasting in the passenger seat while sitting in front of a laDeda wine vineyard while within visual and aural proximity to the soft tinkling of fine china, crystal stemware, and canapés being served on sterling silver trays.

Maybe that is not what happens at a typical Temecula winery but the potential for upset is too great until I sort this mystery out. hissyfit.gif sheeplove.gif

Sounds like vapor lock. Is you fuel pump back by the engine or under your fuel tank? I relocated mine to the front and have no fuel pump issues at all!

That's where I am putting my $. My '73 vapor locked on me on the Grapevine going to LA back in the mid-'70's. Moved the fuel pump to the front and that solved it for good.

Yes, Vapor Lock. You can move the fuel pump to the front but a much easier solution is just move the pump to the fire wall. Moved mine over twenty years ago and I have not had problems since.
