I drove it to work for the first time and it ran out of gas because the "new fuel gauge" still need fine tuning ( like not showning1/2 tank when its on empty) mad.gif But it made it to work just fine. piratenanner.gif driving.gif aktion035.gif

I had a ticking valve in the 914-6. I'm a glutton for punishment and didn't want to drop the engine to adjust the valves. So....I bought a mirror from Walgreens, used it to view the crank pulley, busted a bunch of knuckles turning the crank with a wrench, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, and eventually finished the job. Oh, and add a bout a thousand 1/8 turns of the crank pully nut in between. Sealed it up, topped off the oil and went for an evening stroll. No more tick and now less discomfort driving it around.

Bought a new/old 1975 914 1.8L from California and it's being delivered today smile.gif

While we are not fans of the 1.8, we had to save the vehicle as the original owner painted it a fugly blue/green. It's original color is Palm Green Metalic smile.gif!!!

Well the temperatures dropped enough that I decided to go to the shop for a few hours on Monday night.

I replaced the two bad head studs and started to reinstall the barrels on the 912 motor, but the ring compressor tool I have doesn't work with the pistons already secured to the rods, and I can't get the darn wrist pin circlips out. I tried skinny/narrow-tip flat blade screwdrivers and different types of picks, but had no luck at all mad.gif ... What's the secret to removing these little buggers?

The pic below is NOT my success story, just showing the type of circlip I'm up against.

I finally gave up and ordered a different type ring compressing tool kit. I comes with six different sized bands, covering a range of pistons from 73 mm to 111 mm in diameter smile.gif

I looks like it'll work for this situation, but it probably won't be here until the week end ...

... and today, I get an email reply from the guy I bought the Wilwood slave cylinder from. I purchased it on 9/4 and was supposed to be delivered by 9/9, so I sent him an email asking for shipping status.

He says: "It's shipped...went to WV correct? And the 4th was on labor day weekend."

SO, I replied back: "NO, if you look at my paypal information, it clearly shows my address is in California." screwy.gif slap.gif

Waiting for his next reply ...

OK, so it worked for me. But I do not know how to do that without having to go through You tube. Be patient, I am older than a lot of you. I really just wanted to post the actual video so you could just click on the play icon after seeing the image of the video.

Hi Sir Mark, for the windshield $235 by Rufino (a nice guy) plus new windshield to dash rubber seal from 914rubber and chrome trim clips a total of less than $300. Rufino even came back to pick up the old windshield that he forgot to haul. And since he came back, i showed him my wife C-240 on how to fix the upper windshield seal, and he just fix it and didn't ask me to pay. So free repair with new aftermarket rubber seal.
euro911
Cool, sounds reasonable. I'll need a new windshield in the future, will just have to budget for one.

Thanks biggrin.gif

Almost have the 912 big-bore motor done mueba.gif

Reinstalled the barrels, head, rocker arm assy. and adjusted the valves. Then the intakes, carbs tins and flapper boxes. Still haven't found the misplaced fan housing dry.gif

I do have a spare housing from another set of tins, so I guess I'll just have to use that one for now confused24.gif

Hi, just wondering what tire size are those? And nice clean red car! My favorite color and maybe if I got the funds for repaint, I will go with that color. My wife likes green but she said it is up to me since it is my car.
