Well the temperatures dropped enough that I decided to go to the shop for a few hours on Monday night.
I replaced the two bad head studs and started to reinstall the barrels on the 912 motor, but the ring compressor tool I have doesn't work with the pistons already secured to the rods, and I can't get the darn wrist pin circlips out. I tried skinny/narrow-tip flat blade screwdrivers and different types of picks, but had no luck at all
... What's the secret to removing these little buggers?
The pic below is
NOT my success story, just showing the type of circlip I'm up against.
Click to view attachmentI finally gave up and ordered a different type ring compressing tool kit. I comes with six different sized bands, covering a range of pistons from 73 mm to 111 mm in diameter
Click to view attachmentI looks like it'll work for this situation, but it probably won't be here until the week end ...
... and today, I get an email reply from the guy I bought the Wilwood slave cylinder from. I purchased it on 9/4 and was supposed to be delivered by 9/9, so I sent him an email asking for shipping status.
He says:
"It's shipped...went to WV correct? And the 4th was on labor day weekend."SO,
I replied back:
"NO, if you look at my paypal information, it clearly shows my address is in California." Waiting for his next reply ...
