Not necessarily relating to 914s , I went to Sears to exchange a pair of shoes my wife bought me, and came home with another [inexpensive] roll-away cabinet / chest drawer combo that was on sale smile.gif

Been wanting to segregate the specialized 'P' tools from the regular tools for a while ... this should do the trick.

driving.gif pat.gif caught a bit of rain on the way home from taking my youngest to build-n-grow at Lowe's. - adjusted clutch cable yesterday,
- dash lights keep shorting out headbang.gif this time did not short the fuse, i think its shorting out in the light switch . so i might try and source a new one and see if that will remedy the issue.

Ted (porsche913b_sp) and I caravan-ed to the BS Swap Meet from the South Bay. Thanks for hosting this again Bruce. Met a couple new folks as well as mingling the usual suspects - got to BS with G & R as well shades.gif ... Nice to see everybody's doing well. I think this is the first time Elliot didn't show up confused24.gif

Sold very little (as usual) dry.gif ... and everything that didn't sell will probably stay in the back of the truck until next BS-SM (again) laugh.gif

Colin came by the shop later in the afternoon and picked up the 2.7L motor he purchased a couple of months ago mueba.gif (would that be considered a colin-cleansing?) poke.gif

It was cooking in the shop ... had to employ the air conditioner. Worked well enough that I stuck around for several more hours to sort, package, label, and stage a ton of parts in prep for the impending move.

$20 91 octane almost 3/4 tank. Used the fuel cap to hold the pump spring so I don't have to hold it while pumping. Lately makes my back hurt when holding the pump spring on one hand and the pump on the other hand.

You remember I had that going on? I think so. I was looking at the gauge wires to compare to my build off car and tripped the fuse when I moved a connector for the gauge lighting. Turns out the jumper connected to that bulb that was put on there by AL Garcia when he put my l.e.d. lights in was shorting out by touching the edge, since I adjusted it and wrapped it with tape, no more blowing a fuse in that circuit. Now if I can figure out why my fear air fan blows it's fuse I'll be got to go wiring wise.
Btw, you have a 912? Guy at c and c today asked me what I k ee about them, because a friend of a friend knows an elderly widow somewhere in AZ that's stashed away, wants to get rid of it, told him I didn't know what it was worth, but I'd check. It's a 69 he thinks, what's it worth, if it's rust free?

I think 2 years ago that my 75 1.8 has the 1st time being flat towed because a smoke is coming out from the fresh air vent below the windshield. And I noticed the switch lever for the fan was half way on. So the following day after it was towed, I found out that my fresh air fan blower was stock and hard to turn the blower by hand. The fuse didn't blow up instead the wire for the blower burned.

Andy, is the googly eye look for the 911 targa? Turns out he live in the same development I do, snout 4 blocks away. Has his own shop here in town with a lift, offered to help out with my project, had been around 911s a lot, flips them mostly,- might be a new Porsche BFF laugh.gif , well nice guy, offered to let me use the lift etc might head over this afternoon to check it out..
So he does have the original 2.7 to go in that car, been rebuilt recently, the 3.0 might be coming out, going to find out what he's asking for the 3.0 idea.gif

laugh.gif - Andy ...

Phil, just as with any car, it's hard to place a value without looking at it, but ('65 ~ '69) 912 values have been rapidly increasing recently (even the '76 912Es). I've seen pristine examples go for as high as $75k. blink.gif

Average decent drivers are from the mid to high teens to the high 20's. Really nice drivers are in the $30k ~ $45k range.

EDIT: Here's a link to the 912 BBS classifieds: Link

ever seen one like it or know anything about it? I see how it works (very sturdy!) but it looks slightly over the top considering how well our cars corner with even the basic suspension upgrades... idea.gif

I installed the Elephant Racing Spherical Bearings on the front suspension.

FWIW, they do NOT just slip into the steel front suspension crossmember.
It required a little grinding to get the rear carriers to slip into the crossmember:

I had to do some significant "porting" of the holes in the crossmember to get these carriers to slip in.

I installed the ignition key switch and housing that I received from fellow forumite Cabinetmaker. Things went smooooooothly with the aid of the Pelican Parts' 'How to...'

I took an iPad into the garage and followed the step by step guidance.

One advice though, not mentioned on the Pelican pages: behind the steering wheel, there's a cover holding all electrical parts. It's secured by a allen screw. The housing itself can slide forward and aft for about 8mm, 1/3 of an inch. When securing the allen screw, do a trial fit with the steering wheel to be sure that the contacts of the s/wheel and the housing touch each other.

The car as it was this morning:

IPB Image

I'll be adding side decals tomorrow: matt orange 'PORSCHE' with a 'Heuer Chronograph' decal in the same matt orange color. The car needs a respray in the future. Until that day, I am going to make use of the car's flaws and adapt an 'outlaw'-ish' style.

Not sure about the front and rear bumber, though... body color or also matt orange...
