Hey, can you PM me the cost of that garage? Looks great!

Work was closed today due to snow so I finally had some time to get my 914 running. I rebuilt the fuel distributor (CIS) and got it back together.
I was stoked so I took it for some victory laps in my field. Had a blast.

Kidding - almost nothing more fun than flat tracking in low traction conditions. I bet you were laughing out loud most of the time!

Corvette-powered prototypes and Corvettes are doing really well. The #911 and #912 Porsche 911s were doing really well yesterday but #911 had halfshaft issues over night. #912 is still the current class leader.

Baby got a new set of shoes. . . Magnesium is a bitch to paint if you want it to stick and to last. .
$200 for proper primer, and another $125 for paint. . that's just the materials. . Blasting the old factory paint and primer took 1 hour per rim. . I don't know what Porsche used but it's really hard stuff. .
Powder was not an option. . after lots of research, magnesium has large pores and makes bubbles in the paint when powder is baked. . plus if you every want to remove it you're up the creek.

Thanks. So, about $3,800 for a bare bones version. That's a great price. It comes all assembled, and you just shoved it over a graveled area?
Anyone know any sources in San Diego area for something similar? Every option I have looked at is significantly more.

So far, so good. I haven't had great luck with POR-15 (and neither have many others), so I figured I'd try RB. The pros recommend epoxy primer, but I'm not really set up to spray. My floor pans were in really good shape to begin with. Arizona/California car and I don't intend on ever taking this out in winter or rain here.
Brushing RB on was super easy. I applied 2 coats. No topcoat. I'll be putting dynamat-type stuff over most of the floor pans to replace the tar.
As I understand it, the Ospho is what does all the work with stopping rust. The RB just seals the metal and prevents moisture from getting in. Let's see how it holds up.

Ain't that the Damned truth. Back in the '70s Ford was running a commercial that showed people "accidentally" trying to unlock a Mercedes that they had parked next to. The idea being that this Ford looked so much like a Mercedes one could not tell the difference. Right. And just as my luck would have it, I had purchased a MD 300D. I could not park that damned thing far enough away in the mall parking lot. Once I came out and there were Zypher's (Mercury's lable) on both sides of my 300D. Evidently, some people believed those adds.
