My 14 X 20 pre-fabricated garage arrived today, so a buddy and I pushed it into it's new winter hibernation place - engine is out for a rebuild. Just in time before the blizzard hits us tomorrow. biggrin.gif
Hey, can you PM me the cost of that garage? Looks great!

Work was closed today due to snow so I finally had some time to get my 914 running. I rebuilt the fuel distributor (CIS) and got it back together.

I was stoked so I took it for some victory laps in my field. Had a blast. driving.gif

And people wonder "why are these cars always rusty?" lol-2.gif
Kidding - almost nothing more fun than flat tracking in low traction conditions. I bet you were laughing out loud most of the time!

Corvette-powered prototypes and Corvettes are doing really well. The #911 and #912 Porsche 911s were doing really well yesterday but #911 had halfshaft issues over night. #912 is still the current class leader.

I fired mine up and discovered a fuel leak at the carb lines. My new top priority. Leak=fire=bad.

Baby got a new set of shoes. . . Magnesium is a bitch to paint if you want it to stick and to last. .
$200 for proper primer, and another $125 for paint. . that's just the materials. . Blasting the old factory paint and primer took 1 hour per rim. . I don't know what Porsche used but it's really hard stuff. .

Powder was not an option. . after lots of research, magnesium has large pores and makes bubbles in the paint when powder is baked. . plus if you every want to remove it you're up the creek.

Thanks. So, about $3,800 for a bare bones version. That's a great price. It comes all assembled, and you just shoved it over a graveled area?

Anyone know any sources in San Diego area for something similar? Every option I have looked at is significantly more.

Those wheels really look nice, especially with the black car. Even though my car is yellow, black is my favorite color on a 914. Mike

How do you like working with Rust Bullet? Are you going to top coat over it? When I restored my LoCort I used RB with good results but the purists frowned on it.....I just said it's my car and I'll do what I want with it and that was the end of that. biggrin.gif

So far, so good. I haven't had great luck with POR-15 (and neither have many others), so I figured I'd try RB. The pros recommend epoxy primer, but I'm not really set up to spray. My floor pans were in really good shape to begin with. Arizona/California car and I don't intend on ever taking this out in winter or rain here.

Brushing RB on was super easy. I applied 2 coats. No topcoat. I'll be putting dynamat-type stuff over most of the floor pans to replace the tar.

As I understand it, the Ospho is what does all the work with stopping rust. The RB just seals the metal and prevents moisture from getting in. Let's see how it holds up.

Enlarged the air inlet opening in anticipation of summer temps coupled with the addition of AC. Also, added an aluminum pan to improve airflow. Previously, it just stepped up appx 2". Now it slopes.

What size did you get? I have there 175 lb springs on the rear of my car.
Seems to work nice with my 21mm torsion bars up front.
I need to go to an autocross to know for sure
I adjusted them for a 1/2" rake front to rear

Ain't that the Damned truth. Back in the '70s Ford was running a commercial that showed people "accidentally" trying to unlock a Mercedes that they had parked next to. The idea being that this Ford looked so much like a Mercedes one could not tell the difference. Right. And just as my luck would have it, I had purchased a MD 300D. I could not park that damned thing far enough away in the mall parking lot. Once I came out and there were Zypher's (Mercury's lable) on both sides of my 300D. Evidently, some people believed those adds. shades.gif

Refurbished the pedal cluster with bronze bushings. What a difference. There was not much left of the old plastic bushings...

Drove it piratenanner.gif

Also lifted the front end up on the torsion bars, now it doesn't scrap when leaving the drive way and have less bump steer. Still looks good. I think I had it too low.
