Well, keeping out of trouble and staying busy moving more stuff out of the shop to AZ ... making the third trip on Tuesday driving.gif

The 16 y/o kid from Manhattan Beach picked up his new toy the other day. This is going to be a nice father/son project. Good kid, with a 3.4 grade average, and really knows his SWB 911s and 912s too.

... so with the '67 912 gone, the shop is starting to look a little emptier. The building owner asked if I would be interested in selling him the D7 lift. He offered me $2k for it, so it's his now biggrin.gif ... I can have a brand new D8000 lift delivered to AZ for less than $2k when I get all settled in shades.gif

At home, we tore down the 20 year-old Arrow metal shed that was sitting on the slab behind my garage a couple of weeks ago and bought one of these tanks to replace it. They dropped it off on Friday and we got it into it's final position just minutes before it started raining pat.gif

We moved some of the car parts (that need to stay here in California) into it this w/e ... still have a bunch more to move, dry.gif ... but looking good so far.

I even tried to make it look a little more 'neighbor friendly' on Sunday confused24.gif

I'll feel happier when I get everything moved so I can get back to a normal life (if that's even possible) and start working to get some of these cars in running condition again ...
Cairo94507
Cool. Removing the stickers and painting it to match the house might help disguise it too and go a long way towards neighborhood harmony.
euro911
Actually, the neighbors are OK with it ... it looks nicer than the old rusty shed. Most of them were aware it was coming too.

Some of them thought we'd never get it squeezed into the spot though. Two of my neighbors and my wife and I got this behemoth positioned after the driver rolled it off into the alley ... we utilized the pipe roller method to move it into place

IPB Image

It's freshly painted, but we weren't expecting the sticker on the door. Maybe I'll get some magnetic PORSCHE &/or HARLEY stickers to cover it up confused24.gif

Pulled the gas tank last weekend and put her up on jackstands.

Finally after sitting on my workbench for a while now, install:

1. Turbo Tie Rods

2. Finalize the fresh air controls and rehab.

3. Stock sway bar install.

Hopefully done in a week or so.

Thanks Jason at Parragon for the expedite..... nice guy and 914 guy all the way.

This should take care of the suspension for a while.

Then.....2056.

It was slow today so I knocked off early and went for drive on my little back road twisty. As I came around a sharp left turn a Mountain Lion ran across the road about 200' in front of me. I stopped immediately to take a pic but could not spot him. I know that I was within 50' of him but simply could not pick him out in his natural surroundings. blink.gif But I felt him looking at me so I moved on. Screw the pic. I had my top off. shades.gif

LOL, inside joke. A SoCal Lion is accused of midnight snacks at the Zoo for those not local to the area.

Those are probably my favorite aftermarket wheel for a 4 lug setup- just looks cool!
Oh yeah, and Irish Green on St. Pattys - Nice!

I bought a spare roof for the 914 a month ago with the intentions to paint it and match the car. All the while keeping the stock black textured roof as a back up for originality.

Thanks! The AM Racing wheels will soon be replaced with a set of Pedrinis . . . these are a VW offset and really limit my choices when it comes to replacement tires.

A PCA region friend found this picture from an old PCA tour back in 2002 or so... my son had scared the crap out of his girlfriend driving my red '71 (real) 914-6 while I tried to keep up with my '71 silver car in the background...
I know, I know, should have kept that car!!!

But I did take my '73 to a local cars and coffee at the Penske Musuem in north Scottsdale this AM- kind of a small crowd- no other 914's. Rarely see another one show up...Click to view attachment

Well, not my car but... Installed flares and test fit a custom by Harvey W. "deep 9".
It comes right to the edge of the flare and looks sooooooo nice!

Not out since December. Too much work and no play. Decided to visit Winstar (they say) the worlds largest casino to win my fortune. Netted out 0.01 cents but had a blasting half day of driving!

Looks like a pikes peak car...

I finally got my motor back in after having a rod bearing go bad, ended up adding a web 46 cam, high flow oil pump and oil pressure ball valve. Have to break it in, but driving slow in a 914 is still better then driving a modern car!

Two things: 1) Installed a new lifter (Hi Volume Lo Pressure) pump for the Hi-Pressure system; and 2) Shipped the LS3 to...Cali! Both good things to cross off the list.

After a day at the track (Thunderhill in the Cayman) ... got home and my super deal wiper switch was waiting for me .
Took off the steering wheel, pulled the turn signal and wiper switches , swapped the "runners" . figured out horn connections, re assembled and EVERYTHING on the stalk now works ,
Horn, blinkers, and wipers ... totally stoked !

Figured I had better some comment since I have been working on the car since getting painted. The "March Madness of College Basketball" helps me to work on the car. I have been going through the time consuming process of putting everything back together for the up and coming 2016 WCR in Medford. It does take time and the basketball keeps me in the garage working while watching basketball. Not bad for enjoying two items together.

The car is mostly put together with remaining items to complete such as checking electrical systems, connections, working, etc. I need to finish up some items such as the side valences but probably will not get to them until after WCR.

Now to see if everything works!!!

Last night I machined down one of the center caps I got from Vegas Racer (thanks John!!!) which had disappeared after a long drive last October. blink.gif Needed to take off some .20 off the diameter to get it to fit.

Oh yeah, put some green loctite on the set screws this time...

After not running since Christmas Day, I thought it might be time to give it a shot. Been reluctant since tearing my Achilles (a different thread) but figgered, what the heck.

It's been on a Battery Tender all winter. Klock kept perfekt time. Got in, turned the key, and she kicked right over.

As I type, she's out in the driveway, purring like the proverbial kitty...

Ahhh, the little things in life. beerchug.gif Driving can't be too far off.

Oh, and I do believe that throwing a couplafew mothballs under your car during storage is a good thing. Vermins hate that.

Finishing the final shop closing bits and pieces ... one trailer load of parts to go smile.gif

Will be moving the 'BB' home tomorrow or Thursday, and trying to carve out some time to get the hydraulic clutch thing happening.

Dropping off my wife's '71 at the body shop on Friday ... minor body reshaping and then new paint. I removed bumpers, all the lights, the mirror, the trunk lock and 914 emblem this evening. Still need to remove the windshield trim, wiper assembly, squirters, door handles and the sail trim ... and horns and all them little round rubber thingies in the bottom of the bulkhead behind the front bumper.

I disassembled the motor earlier in the year and have the parts staged to go to EMW for evaluation ... maybe next week confused24.gif
