Went to Finish master to get some paint to redo my Creamsicl's Phoenix red. The orange I see on the car right now is too light for some reasons. It needs to be redish. I got a negative side scripts from 914rubber.com and took it to Finish Master. And they photographed it then made the matching color for me. They put in a quart can and 2 spray cans to start with. Will paint this weekend smile.gif

Started glass work on rear bumper shaping it to fit flares. Right now it is a rough fit, hopefully by tomorrow night it will be getting close to done.

Rustoleum Lobster Red is a near perfect match for Phoenix Red.

After doing a radio delete I set up my iPod. Installed a a line driver with remote control that connects to Amp and powers two 4x4 speakers. The dash hole for the radio was replaced with a cubby (or shelf) for storing iPhone, sunglasses, keys,

Also removed a Sprice aircraft CHT gauge and Innovate A/F ratio gauge; they are for sale - see classifids. I'll bring them to C & C tomorrow too

Nice isn't it? smile.gif As someone else pointed out, it's Series9 ... Custom-made, one of a kind by Joe O'Brien at S9. But I bet he'll make another if asked. Edit: I should add, they're welded aluminum...not fiberglass.

Are the rockers custom or off the shelf and if so from where? Your car is a knockout.

Oh and before I was distracted, installed a new fuel sender after running out of gas one time too many. Also need to get speedo recalibrated.

I installed a Momo wheel/hub that I bought here. I'll have to get used to how small this thing is, but it sure lends itself to the go-kart feel of the car.

I also installed some much better and brighter vintage Hella driving lights. A box came today from 914 Rubber that had the plastic lens protective stick-on covers. These are a no brainer, they don't show and protect expensive glass lights.

Took my '71 out for its first drive of the year- ran great except my new LED front turn signals are possessed. One side blinks like it should but the opposite side blinks in the bottom 1/4 like a euro lense! Does it on both sides when signalling L or R. Gotta be confusing for oncoming traffic!! They aren't euro bulbs but the US ones that should always blink completely.
(calling Spoke!! I love the LED bulbs, but they can do some weird things with our 45 year old wiring!!)

Looking for Brake Master Cyc information!

I thought I was so smart!

My brake Master Cyl DOES say "14" on the part that can be seen from under the car. So, I bought a new "19" to to compliment the Big Black 911 brakes.

Here's the new one clearly marked "19" at the red arrow on the part you cannot see when installed and no "19" is seen anywhere else on the main body:

Surprise!

I started to pull out the old "14" (see yellow arrow) and their is "19" (see red arrow) in the same location as the new one described above!

HELP! Is the old one a 14 or 19 confused24.gif

They never used a 14mm bore to my knowledge. 914s normally came with a 17mm, and the 19mm is the most popular replacement.

Yes you bought one, remember.... smile.gif I can't tell from here if the one on the car is or is not. The markings you are looking at are casting numbers which may or may not be linked to the actual size of the unit. beer.gif

Finally addressed one of those annoying little problems. Even with the heat lever fully off, I was getting heat on the passenger side. The problem was the cable being a little too short. I planned on re-bending the cable in the tunnel, but didn't have much extra to give on the drivers side.

Decided to lengthen the mounting area of the passenger side with weld. I cut and bent a piece of copper pipe about the same diameter as the end, then hit it with the mig welder. I ended up with quite a blob on the end as the copper melted...but it cleaned up well and works as intended.

I fabricated a bracket for each side. The front is using the bolt brackets that came with the bumper. I might do the same.

The front was off ebay. It's pretty good, but a GT style one with the notch. Link below:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/porsche-914-GT-fib...ICr&vxp=mtr

I'm thinking of running one of these mini light bars within the notch.

The rear I bought off someone, not sure where it's from.

Today i started stripping the front end ready for fender replacement followed by full respray. Also stripped the fuel injection off the replacement engine. Damn those tinware screws can be a nightmare to get off without damaging the tinware.

So one step closer to getting the shell out on the road to pressure wash prior to bare metal rub down.
