Turned down an offer to sell the 914, I just said not for sale. I mentioned 914World if serious for a car and he said he just buys and sells them when he sees them sitting around, I'm guessing he was hoping I'd throw out a dirt cheap price due to wanting to get rid of it.
According to my neighbor where the car is being stored another person asked him if it was for sale a few weeks ago, neighbor told him no and he proceeded to go up the driveway to try and get a better look at it under the car cover. Neighbor told him not a good idea and to leave.
I really need to get the car in my garage!

I can't leave mine in the driveway ever or it ends up with a note asking to buy it with an out of area phone number. Different number every time...

Hot as hell here in PA today. So I Threw an old air con in the garage window and replaced all the
gaskets and springs for the "starboard" Zenith carb. Posted a question
about plugs so I'll grab those. Need to order a new cap and rotor. Have new plug wires already.
Cheers

Well no pics so not very interesting....but did final dog work to refinish engine bay of "yellow" ( a conversion) ...It has been in process for about three weeks so cant really even guess the number of hours but only happy I am not paying time and material on this one. It has been in the high 90s so certainly sweating my a__ off.
Ready to prime tomorrow and find my shortcomings then to shop for paint. Will post pics when done but it has been virtually stripped to metal mechanically ..certainly the hard way. Good news is the car was solid metal under the crappy paint someone had applied.

Cuda, I assume you have an extinguisher in the car. NEVER go without one! Many years ago I was starting my car in Porsche Park at Road America and it wouldn't start and had a MAJOR gas smell. One of the fuel lines had come loose. Thank God no one was smoking nearby, but I got a Halon extinguisher right after that and have never not had one in any of our vehicles.
Cheap insurance!!!
Yep, I do keep a fire extinguisher in both 914s. Sure hope I never need them!

Runs great!

Painted the instrument dash. Took the gauges apart and cleaned, painted bezels. Cleaned up the faces and replaced all the bulbs.

I replaced the plastic bezel on my 75 with a freshly-painted early metal one last year, Made a big difference - and spruced-up the interior quite nicely

The attempts I have made now require the face to be replaced...

^^^ for the faces I used cotton balls and Q tips. distilled water only. For some reason the silver dots had a sticky film on them , I used rubbing alcohol on them
I may have been lucky.
The metal and bezels were really bad . Lots of wire brush and sanding, I couldn't get them perfect so I actually used some texture paint, then painted them.

I just drove mine around for an hour or so, doing a high-heat shakedown to make myself feel more confident with the newish tuning profile. So I just stuck around Albuquerque, did a loop around it, nothing really fun as far as the roads go, but I had fun on the local interstates a couple times, and a respectful nod from a young guy on a hot motorcycle. Too bad the one fun spot at a roundabout had me stuck behind a couple panic buttons that each took it down to 15mph to negotiate it (and it's a 2-lane roundabout! Argh!) No pics of the car, I was solo, but here's the aftermath ... 100F heat led to some serious 4-point harness sweat lines.
Car did great but I'm at least a quart low on water.

Today I drove my teener to work for the first time since October 2014.
Following a phenomenal job by PMB Performance to repair rust and repaint, I had to put the car back together and ended up fighting a transmission/clutch problem which finally got resolved yesterday.

Hey Nein14! Nice work on the oil coller setup. I have the same shroud. how did you mount the oil cooler and which oil cooler did you use? you said you widened the shroud but it looks the same as mine other than the hole in the top for the oil hose fitting.

Cool! I also have a RX7 oil cooler. I also have a Fluidyne cooler that's quite a bit shorter, about the size of two standard Type 4 oil coolers. That one will fit under the shroud. How well did your smaller cooler work?

Been an on going project for a while but, "finished" it .
Center Console install.
My car had one when new . the top bracket was there and the heater control had been changed. could see that in the carpet.
It is in ... still need to rebuild / clean/ paint the gauges ... but that will come.
Last project I wanted to do before WERKS . now for a week of serious cleaning .
