I've got 6X16 Fuchs on both my narrow body cars- they work great! Send them to Harvey Weidman and they'll look better than new!
Is he a vendor here? I would like to have my Fuch's polished and painted.
Harvey is great, I understand via the bird site that the current wait time is up to a year. Also, there's a new vendor in Huntington Beach California that has been offering great work and a much faster turn around like a few weeks.

CoverKing. I went with the Stormproof. The only complaint is that there's no option for a side view mirror pocket. I can always fold it in...
It was $400 shipped with a cable and lock.
I rubbed down the fuel tank (waiting for Porsche dealer to open Monday for gasket advice) except for the filler neck area.
Corrected a paint issue on the rear bumper in readiness for the final coat.
Started to put headlight assemblies in. Now waiting on some help to progress those bits.
I have a few days off next week so will be looking to progress the rebuild.

Should have taken the '71 for a ride today as the late fall weather in IA was more like late fall in Scottsdale!
914 in background as my son and I dropped the engine on the 993 for new clutch and LWF this winter plus a complete cleaning... a bit more complicated and time consuming compared to removing the engine and tranny in the 914!!

FINALLY finishing up reinstalling the whole interior after Scotty installed the Engman long kit a few months back. Also installed a "push-to-start" switch, rewired the radio, put new speakers in the door panels (in existing holes), and added an underdash 12v outlet for charging phones, etc. Also working on a mount to relocate the fire extinguisher to under the front edge of the driver's seat (more on this as I puzzle it out).
Other than a cross-threaded screw and a torn hot-air duct behind the left kick-/speaker-panel, it's gone pretty well.
Hoping to drive it tomorrow!

Been re-doing my dash. I put in the gauges last year but was a quickie job with cheap vinyl.
Now doing with 914rubber early brickmold. Also did the top section in brickmold....I didn't want that shiny smooth vinyl again. One day I'll have a 914rubber dash pad, but for now it's a molded cover...not too bad.

My 74 914-6 GT clone is still waiting for the finished 2.2S engine soo, today I tackled the transmission. With help from Doctor Eviel videos, pulled apart, flipped 3rd and 5th gears, added new 4th (Q), new synchro's and dog teeth, went great all bearings good. Just need first gear slide and back together it go's, short gear box for auto=cross and track. Best, Mark

Went autocrossing on Sunday with the local PCA chapter. Was easily the lowest-horsepower car there. Managed to finish 59th out of 67 entries. Had a lot of fun, even though I wasn't really competitive. Another guy came with his stock '70 914-6 and finished 4th overall -- not too shabby for a 46 year old car!
One of the other participants brought his wife to her first-ever autocross event. She was originally just going to watch, but was convinced to try riding along with a couple of instructors (of which, I'm one). Her first ride was in a 997, and afterward she wasn't sure if she liked autocross or not. Someone suggested she ride along with me, thinking it might be more her speed (
). So, I took her out for a ride. She had a blast! She actually giggled and laughed the whole way around the track. It was immensely entertaining, I wish I had video -- every time I rolled into another corner, she'd burst out laughing. She had so much fun that she actually requested another ride later on (which she got -- same result, constant giggling
). She had so much fun, she's going to sign up for the school in the spring.

Today's efforts saw the tank put back together after it was recently painted. I just rested it back in it's place with thick sheets under to protect it and the bodywork.
I then sanded the small touch ups on rear wing ready for paint touch up. I'm starting to get over picky about blemishes and slight imperfections. I'll never get past paint stage at this rate.
I also made the euro driving light fixings and converted the turn signal buckets.

Won an auction on eBay for one of those rectangular rear reflector lens things, got it for a smoking price ($65). Even with shipping from the UK ($25), it's still a LOT less than what I've seen these things go for here in the States.
So while I'm waiting for this piece to get here and for my car to get out of the shop, I have to figure out how I'm going to open the trunk if I put this piece on, lol!
For those of you that have installed this rectangular reflector lens on the back, what did you do (other than drilling a hole in the lens) to open the trunk? I'm thinking of adding a strip of LEDs under the lens and wiring it to the brake light, so it'll act like a third brake light, but I have to figure out how to open the trunk first!

Back in the day the reflector kits came with an electric solenoid with a switch under the dash.
When installing the reflector make sure you give your method of attachment a lot of thought. 40 years later we're seeing quite a few with rust issues under the reflector.
So scrape off the foam tape and figure out something else.

I thought: I should clean the top of the engine off.
Then, this would be easier if I dropped the engine, then those tins are in the way.
Did I go too far?
Thought this shot was cool:
While the heads are off I am getting a valve job, new exhaust valves (old sodium filled were giving up) and dual springs.
Now I can bump up the rev limiter to 6500-6800.

It's a 2.0L (2056) with a webcam 86b.
I decided to break it down after ~2 race seasons.
Other than a low compression test and questionable exhaust valves, it looked like brand new inside.
Even with no headgaskets, 9.2:1 CR and revving the shit out of it (I had it to 7k a couple times accidentally before I got a rev limiter) , I saw no evidence of head leaks.
