So freakin weird. When you hover on the image it opens in the correct orientation. So I saved the correct version to my iPad and then selected to post it and it came out sideways again. Freakin weird.
Cool. I got's me one of Mueller's 2.1L badges in the mail today mueba.gif

Jeffery, 914 7T3 (the teener formerly know as Calvinator2016) stopped by this afternoon to look at a front trunk lid he wanted to purchase ... and to shoot the shit for a while, of course. He's coming back Thursday to help remove that 'choice' lid from the 'BB' and install another lid (that I have stashed away) on the 'BB' smile.gif

Maybe he can help me with the brake bleeding on the 'BB' too? ... if time allows happy11.gif ... then maybe I'll be able to drive the beast to the SoCal Fun Day in Temecula unsure.gif

OT: Received a couple shipments of new parts for the '66 912 too ... F & R brake rotors from AZ Autohaus, and a big box of miscellaneous parts (F & R wheel bearings & seals, brake hoses, suspension bushings, body seals, engine gasket set, etc.) from RMeuropean. Upon taking inventory, it appears to be a partial order. Interesting, all items were stated to be in stock when I placed the order though. First time ordering from RM ... good prices, but not too happy with only getting a partial order dry.gif

New KONI strut inserts and rear shocks were ordered from Summit, but a rep at KONI said they won't be shipping out to their vendors until the 3rd week in August. No biggie ... I need to repaint the suspension components anyway, so the timing isn't that critical.

Do a search on McMark's "long tube" bleed method. You won't need another person unless you want them to do the work. happy11.gif

Temporary fix on the shift rod/coupler . . . then a short test drive. It's really pretty good (a definite improvement compared to the last drive). Now to find time enough to get it to the garage so I can fix it right.

I spend about 4hrs on my "toysRus" lather (my first project) and made dizzy plug for my 2056 engine.

Of course I could have bought one for $30, but it's not what you can buy, but rather what you can make. Which makes the 914 so attractive in my eyes.

Well, Jeffery came by, we got the 'old' front trunk lid off of the 'BB and safely loaded into his SUV ... then we installed and adjusted the 'new' shiny lid on the 'BB'. Looks too nice - I'll have to wash and polish the car to match the new lid (film at 11, tomorrow morning's type 11) cool_shades.gif

We also bled the brake system and the clutch's slave cylinder. I still have to adjust the push rod on the brake pedal assembly ... too much gap due to the added thickness of the mounting bracket for the clutch's M/C.

Other items on the To-Do list:

Drain fuel tank and purge the fuel lines.
Pour in a few gallons of fresh fuel.
Install battery, attempt to start (to determine if carbs will need attention).
Drain crankcase oil.
Install new (Jonesy) Tuna Can and Taco plate.
Fill with new oil (Brad Penn 20/50).

Reinstall foot pedal plate, center armrest unit, driver's seat and driver's side carpet.
Replace faulty turn signal switch. ... and Fuse# 8.
Install new front trunk seal (914 Rubber).
Adjust headlight assemblies smash.gif
Pump some fesh air in the tires and check lug bolt torque.
Test drive ... driving.gif
Wash & polish exterior FERG.gif

Managed to do a little sanding/priming of the quarter panels. I got this thing as a project a couple of weeks ago, and I'm trying to get the surface rust sanded off and primed.

One of the p.o.'s seemed to have gotten a little liberal with the body filler, as the more I sand, the more metal I find. Can't figure whether he was trying to make the fender lips appear more fluid with the body, or was trying to cover up scratches left from what I presumed was a disk sander (even though they aren't that deep), or just wanted to build the panels up to make the transition smoother where he shaved the handles, sidemarkers, and changed the lights confused24.gif

First job was to rebuild the 2nd front caliper. Job done.

Second job was to make a spacer for the alternator back plate. I still wasn't happy with the clearance inside on one of the + nut tab so i cut a small section, bent back and welded in a small filler piece. Now i'm happy with the clearance.

Third job was to fit the fuses and connect the battery for the first time. Quite pleased that no fuses popped. There are a couple of gremlins to resolve but as there are a number of wires still not connected i'm not bothered about those just yet.

Next up is to make the alternator wiring loom and make the extention for the relocated fuel pump to the front of the car. Once that's done i can start the engine for the first time!!

Hello

This morning I woke up to the smell of gasoline coming from under my 914

I pushed her out of the garage and noticed my fuel pressure regulator was leaking badly

I clamped off the fuel lines and removed the regulator

Ran to 3 autoparts stores and found it finally

Installed and shes up and running again!

I also had many hours into trying to get those fender lips to look right. using a rounded bondo spreader helped, as did using a cut off piece of broomstick with sandpaper wrapped around it.

Trying to clean up around here a bit - I've received numerous parts shipments that were well packaged, but now that they've reached their final destination, they could be condensed with other 'like' parts to take up less space. At the moment, this goes for both, 912 and 914 parts ... and more are on their way here soon.

I'll start on the to-do list for the 'BB' this coming week (as shown in post # 9216) http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?s=&...t&p=2515785

I think I have everything to do it handy idea.gif ... except I don't know how much fuel is still in the tank, and if I have enough containers to catch it all confused24.gif

On the 'BB', I only got the driver's side floor vacuumed up, the push rods for the brake and clutch pedals properly adjusted, and stuck a depth gauge (piece of wooden doweling) in the fuel tank to determine the quantity of petrol that needs to be drained.

Whilst looking in the rear trunk for the floor board for the pedal area, I opened a mystery box and found the 912 head-pipe/heat exchanger that's been MIA for the past 2,1/2 years mueba.gif

I blasted it and was ready to paint it prior to it going missing, and it's already developed a fair amount of surface rust. Another quick blast session will cure that problem shades.gif

...more boring sanding/priming pics...got driver's side fender in first primer coat, and sanding pass side. Wind started blowing a little, and I'm rattle-canning the primer in my carport so I had to stop...think I might have gotten some overspray on the neighbor-lady's garden gnomes. confused24.gif

I'm not going to say that I hate sanding, but if sanding and I were in a relationship, I think I would have to pull the, "It's not you, ...it's me" card. Today, I only got around to sanding down the front tunnel access cover plate, painted it and the driver's floor board.

Just need to attach the throttle pedal cable and linkage then I can install those parts.

...

Didn't get a whole lot done yesterday either, but I re-routed some extra cabling through the tunnel from the dash to the battery (for a pending high-powered radio installation), and installed a (914rubber) upgraded hand pull for the driver's seat.
