Driven later yesterday night before total darkness, after my last fine tune of the carbs finding the carbs spit back a little more than I like, however once the motor is up to temp all is fine.
Getting a bit of pop back from the exhaust on decel ,may drop main jets back a little, not sure .
Oil temp gauge went poo a while back, fitted another inset into gauge today,no result and then found some real issues from the PO...again don't want to go there.
Will test both gauges tomorrow, after tracing wiring s#itstorm.
Thinking about lowering the front 25mm or more, after insert replacement it is too high.
Could have done more ,really a average day .........

That's more of an indication that there's an exhaust leak. You might check there first.

Installed the transmission in the race car affectionately named "Carerror" . It really nice to stand in the rear trunk and grab the tranny by the hornes to get that last 3/8th" and hear that wornderful sound of clunk.
She's going on a small diet, going to lose some wires and lights as she was street legal. All she needs to do now is get passed PCA tech.

The wife and I drove up to Spanaway, Wa. and picked up Rob's (gearhead1432) 72 1.7.
It will get some love at MiddleMotors in the future. The restoration has been stalled for about 10 years. The Air Force is shipping him to Oklahoma for 4 years so he figured it would be a good time to have it worked on.

Replaced the left rear wheel bearing over the weekend, WHEW !!

On the plus sides:
1. The old wheel bearing has been in there since 1994, ~160k miles ago(?), I think I got my $$$ worth.
2. No more random clunks on the rough roads this morning wink.gif
3. No more faint scraping noise while turning left on the drive to work smile.gif

Received the door handle repair kits from Scott at 914 Rubber this afternoon. Installed one of the the new cams, lock cylinder grommet and rubber seals onto the mechanism that was cleaned-up a couple of daze ago.

Waiting on some sound deadening foil (that I ordered yesterday) before reinstalling the 'new-to-me' door panel.

I'll eventually need to revisit the passenger side to refresh that mechanism (and install sound material, just not a priority right now) ... and to figure out why the interior handle stopped working again. It was working just fine prior to installing the door panel huh.gif

I removed the interior handle escutcheon's screw but that didn't change anything (and yes, it's the correct short screw). So prospective passengers will just have to roll down the window to grab the exterior handle to GTFO until it's fixed rolleyes.gif

Put most of the parts back in Carerror and put her on the scales.
She was not embarrassed because she knows she is going on a diet.

LF. 320. RF. 321

LR. 497. RR. 478

Total. 1616

She is not embarrassed because she knows she still has oil and tranny fluid in her.
Carerror is sub 1600 pounds dry and on a diet.

You were a busy beaver, dude.

I received the sound deadening material, but it was 90° in the shade here today, so I'll have to wait until it cools off before dicking around inside the car ... maybe I'll get the driver's side floor done this evening - maybe not huh.gif

It's been in the triple digits here lately. We're setting all kinds of records for heat. Gonna be 106 tomorrow. The good news it will be 60 degrees tonight. If it didn't cool off at night here, we wouldn't have moved here. biggrin.gif Also, there is a large A/C duct that comes into the garage. It goes up to the living room. I used a large hole saw and cut some vents in it. I now have a climate controlled garage. laugh.gif It was 105 today and I worked in the garage all day. smash.gif welder.gif sawzall-smiley.gif

It's not necessarily the temperature, but the accompanying humidity was right around 70%. The lift is in the rear driveway and exposed to full sun most of the day, so the combination makes working on the interior a little ... let's say, uncomfortable dry.gif

This is a pic from earlier in the year (poor thing, hasn't had much love in the past two years) ...

Some day, I'll have to clear out enough space in the garage to accommodate at least one car. It stays fairly cool in comparison to the rear driveway. Good idea on the A/C ducting. I did something similar in our house and the results were rewarding smile.gif

Looks like it's supposed to cool down by the end of the week ... just have to play it by ear. Maybe I'll get a reprieve one of these years, so I can make it out to the RRC ... that's our anniversary w/e wacko.gif
