The 914 provided us with transportation during the Vintage Car Road Races at PIB this past weekend. What a blast !!! Had to use a ferry to get the car from the mainland out to the island of South Bass. I worked the event in the Paddock area.

Pic shows her parked at days end behind our "Hotel" - the vessel Sea Dawg. That's my wife sitting on the boat.

We'll be back next year and will add the running of the old course thru the streets of Put In Bay.

Took mine to the shop this afternoon after two weeks of messing with it myself. Turns out the VR was running at 17v and fried my new odyssey battery and my Mallory ignition box. Luckily I have spares for all that on hand and should be good to go for RRC next week.

Picked up a box of powder coated goodies from bdstone 914 in Riverside, CA.

I think it was somewhere between 121 and 146 degrees out there today.

Finally made it up to the Red Rooster in my 74 Ravenna car and snapped a twin pic to the one I took with the '73. As much as I love the 74, I do miss that yellow car.

Drove the '73... hadn't been driven for over a month as I was in IA exercising its brother the '71.
Ran great - every time I drive a 914 I get reminded what fun they are, even after 46+ years!! Who needs self-driving cars!!!!

I drove my car around trying to work the bugs out. I have carb issues, but it idles perfectly. I'm pouring over Weber carb information. It will be nice to figure out the tachometer too.

I need help, but I don't know who to ask.

Went to start car and the battery (10 years old) was dead. Not unexpected.

Replaced muffler gaskets after mounting new Dansk.

Did you verify that the jets, venturies and emulsion tubes are correct for your size engine?
How is the tach connected to your ignition system? Is it a 4 banger tach going through a tach adapter? have you called Clewett? I think it was a Clewett system.
I took the easy way out and went all stock. Even with the Weber's I used the stock cd ignition system.

After a week in Scotland today was the first day for a while on the car.

I fitted the fuel pump up front under the tank and wired it in, don't know if it works yet though because the battery is on my son's car!

Also fabricated the other side engine tin, stripped the paint off both ready for the VHT paint which I seem to have mislaid.

Also fitted the replacement complete steering column that I bought a while ago. Nearly forgot I also fitted the blower controls and blower. But had to take the blower out as the wiper isn't working!

I have a few niggles to deal with before asking for help to fix.

I think it will work but won't be accurate due to the mph speedo having different gearing.

Hello Bill,
I took careful measurements of the LHS mirror hole positions and applied them to the RHS and triple checked. I made the assumption that the factory used accurate jigs to position the nuts inside the door skin. They must have! I drilled the first hole with a 2mm drill and tested its position by rubbing a pin upside down in the hole using the head to feel for the threads. Then I used a 4mm drill followed by a small round jewelers file to correct its position before finishing with the correct size drill. You need to control the drill depth carefully so you don't damage the thread. After that I adjusted the previously measured position of the second hole accordingly. I had to be brave smile.gif

I wouldn't think the mechanicals would be any different but that is just my logic. The speedometer face says 240 but goes to 250 at the bar just past 240.
