Worked on my starter relay/push bump mod for the relay panel. Have it all mocked up on my spare realy board and tested out OK. Now to remove it and put it on the car! Maybe tomorrow.
Kent, here are some teaser pics,

I love it! My new toy that will pay for itself. No more remote starter switch to hook up. biggrin.gif

What started as a simple CV replacement has manifested itself to this. Yep, I pulled the drive shafts last week from Blackie after reading McM's post about sliding the shaft and listening to the clunking noise. I ordered Eric's S's type I refits and they take a few weeks. Then I see Otto's ad for the rear trunk panels (which Blackie needed) so here I am. Once again, my ego and lack of common sense have convinced me that this is something I can do. chair.gif

I pissed of my neighbor lady tuning my car in front of her house. I parked there on purpose.

She screamed "I can't hear my TV".
Fuch you lady was what I was thinking. I said sorry and turned if off.

CONTEXT: This lady has called the Police and the City inspection dept. on me several times. She keeps telling them I'm running an auto repair business out of my garage. They come out and check my registration and leave. No repair business here.

Did a little tidying-up around the house today. Whilst moving stuff around to sweep up yard debris the gardener always manages to blow into the carport, I found one of my spare '6' engines had decided to take a leak dry.gif ... Started Hazmat cleanup procedures before my wife caught wind of it.
Smart & Final's degreaser works pretty good, but I'll need to go over it a couple more times FERG.gif dry.gif

Also, ran across an old A/C condenser unit. Took it apart, cleaned up everything and reassembled it. As soon as I find the under dash unit, they'll both show up in the classifieds) shades.gif

Hi guys,

(1975 914 1.8L)

Well saturday is not a good day for my teen, went to our church for some work day with my fellow men's ministry and upon leaving our church compound after 5 to 8 minutes engine running idle in the park area, I smell some burning which at 1st I thought it was from the church neighbor who is barbequing and I suddenly noticed a smoke coming out from the hood vent just below the wiper arm. So immediately turned off the engine and remove my battery cable. Check some wiring beneath the dash board and did'nt see any electrical problem, remove the wiring for the clock and stereo which is attached directly to the fuses. So did try starting the engine again and after 2 to 3 minutes running, smoke again coming out on the same area. Did try to smell the area of the fuel tank and did smell the smoke from the fuel tank area. I ended up calling AAA to tow my teen which is about 25 minutes drive to my house.

Now I have some questions, Is there any other electrical beneath the fuel tank beside the fuel pump? For now I only suspected fuel pump problem. Before this happened, I noticed last week there are times that after turning off the engine, totally key off from the ignition, the fuel pump still running and fuel are continues running on the fuel lines on the engine bay (Fuel injection lines). Is there also a problem with my ignition electrical or fuel pump is the problem already?

But with this, I still thank God for this did not happened on a freeway that will require me to run the car a longer time to find a place to stop that might make it more worse.

Thanks and God Bless!

Noel

It took my son and I about 8 hours to put it together. It does get you off of your knees and back. But it does have it's challenges too. I have jack trays so I can put my Vette on stands to change tires and brake pads for the track.

We had to take the engine mount bar and the right side sheet metal off to get the engine to fit through the rails but it worked.

Trans out. The rear seal was definitely leaking. It was a brand new Elring with only 600+/- miles on it confused24.gif
New seal fits tighter on the flywheel and should cure the problem.

Is that box for a carbs set-up? (i've been researching threads on breather box set ups, most are for carb set ups and have wondered if a stock F.I. set up would benefit from such a situation)

I had both, Victor Reinz and Elring seals on the shelf here, was told the Elring was better so that's what we originally installed. The new Elring seems to have a tighter grip around the yoke on the flywheel than the one we removed, so we'll see how it works out confused24.gif

Trial-fit the seal on the flywheel before installation. I also replaced the graphite-coated O-ring in the flywheel.

Yes Doug, Samba. The guy's name is Travis. I had him construct the box with both, 1/8" perf and solid plate drain-back baffling. The box looks good - the welds are real nice.

Phil, it all depends on how much CCP you've got. Stock pressures may not require a remote box, but they can be use with either carbs or FI.

Welded in Autopower roll cage, installed repainted fuel tank. Ready for track in two more weeks !!

OH MY GOD! WHY WOULD ANYONE WELD IN A CAGE????

Have you ever seen a bridge that was welded??

Have you ever seen amn aircraft part that was welded?

Plate mounts on both sides are 20 times stronger if they are properly installed and torqued.

yes i have the same box. except i had him weld on AN fittings instead. very nice workmanship. and price too. i powder coated mine semi gloss black. happy11.gif did you find a good place to install it?

my flywheel seal looked just like the one in your photo. 2 tone. it replaced an orange one that never leaked.... i guess we will see....fingers crossed.

I'm planning to mount the box in that depressed area on the firewall. Not going with the nice, fancy braided hoses, so ordered with the slip-on fittings.
