I was able to attend the Woodward Dream Cruise today for a few hours & fell in love with the new 2005 FORD GT. It was on display at the Ford Motor display in Birmingham, MI. The GT is built locally in Wixom, MI & I have seen a few test mules on the road, but never been able to get close. I fell in love with it & want one. Wait a minute, they cost over 150 big ones. O well, guess I'll will keep my 914.

For those who don't know about the Woodward Cruise it was officially today (Sat). It really started a week ago, because everyone couldn't wait. I was in the area this Wednesday and people were already lined up along Woodward & the cars were curising. If the car was produced it was there, Street Rods, Antiques, Muscle Cars, you name it and it was there. It was estimeated to have 1.5 million people lined along the 20 mile streach from 8-mile Rd to Pontiac, MI. It was estimated to have 100,000 cars in attendance just today. I did see a few 914's I never saw before. Remember it started un-officially early this week & similiar attendance starting Wednesday. Our 914 guys were there on Fri. What an event!!! The beautiful part is viewing all the car shows parked along the way then sitting along Woodward Ave to see them parade past. The big block cars with blower motors revving their engines. Short wheel spins & the exhaust smell really get the automotive juices flowing. What a day!! Hopefully some of the other guys took pictures of the event. I only got the GT pictures then went into a coma.

It's a gorgeous car. Nice pictures. You think a club buy would work?
TJB/914
Hi Carl,

We can't afford this car. It's probably going for a lot more than sticker.

By the way I think I made a mistake on the number of cars in attendance. Was probably 10,000 or more?? Correct me on this one fellows. The 1.5 million people in attendance is correct.

have you seen the specs on this beast? the new car and driver tests it against the GT3 and a ferrari stradale. 0-60 in 3.3 sec, 1/4 mile in 11.6 sec and 128 MPH! it wins in every performance category but skidpad, GT3 takes that. who would think a ford would be outbraking a porsche and ferrari!?

I was really impressed with details. Ford got this one perfect. Look at the rear end. The small bumper with exhaust out the rear. Large round tail lights that fit perfectely. Every line & angle is perfection. I could go on & on about just the right angles, etc. The other thing is power & handling. I didn't get a ride, but every magazine article tells that story. The more you look at the car in person the more you appreciate what they did. I am going to try to get a plant visit at the Wixom plant & see them being built. I am working on it. I think I want a YELLOW one.

Carl,

You need one of these. So do I. (hm... hate to start a race or anything -- certainly not on a "porsche bbs" -- heh laugh.gif )

Hope things are well.

If there were six of us from the club who ordered these it ought to be good for 10% off, don't you think? Would they take our 6's in trade?

Maybe the admins would set up a separate forum for the Ford GT group. Naah ... they'd boot us out.
