Did the early square corner rear bumpers ever come in black from the factory?

I know the later ones with bumper guards did.

They did come in body color, but if i'm not mistaken black wasn't a official color option until '71.

So, while technically "possible" that someone ordered an early car without the appearance package and with a custom color (98 code black), it's probably highly unlikely.

Looks like it must have been repainted matte black to look like a later bumper at some point.

I pulled a black early bumper off of a black 71 a while back. I don't think black was the original color of the car, but I don't remember now.
