I now live in a state that allows radar detectors clap56.gif clap56.gif smilie_pokal.gif , Virginia doesn't allow them. headbang.gif

I am looking for one that is price good and works great. The last on ei bought was in high school and it was X&Y bands. I am sure there are some other bands used now.

Thanks

The standard nowadays is the Valentine 1. This is the guy who designed the first Escort for Cincinnati Microwave, so he's been around for a while and always had the best on the market.

If you drive too fast you can get a hand-delivered invitation to the court-house. They are also a little pricey though. wink.gif

That does look like a sweet unit. I live the upgrade policy very top notch smilie_pokal.gif smilie_pokal.gif I will be using this in my daily driver. My comute is about 30 mins and sometimes alittle fast driving.gif

I am not sure I can swing the $$ for that unit but it does seem like the last one I will need to buy. Anyone have an idea on what the upgrades costs? I assume it will be shipping + something.

Time to talk to the wife wub.gif

Cheers and thanks

I've never used the V1 and I'm sure it's the best and I'll get one some day but I have a 10 year old Escort that does a decent job. I think I got it for less than $100.

Anytime a cop actually had radar pointed at me the Escort caught it. I did get a ticket one time while using it because I had the music blasting and didn't hear it until it was too late. Those first feint beeps from a distance can be very important.

I've had several bel units, the first was good, the later one was terrible. I now have a pretty new whistler which I think is not regarded well, but it's been very good on the highway, and doesnt false too much.

Check out a mail order place out of NY called Smile Photo, do a search and I'm sure they will come up, they have a ton of them and pretty good prices. I think I paid around 100 or so.

V1...has direction arrows and a counter.....more than one radar can be working in an area and can mask the other.

Yep, the V1 is the best. I have had mine for 3+ years - saved me a number of times. I have slowed down due to its warning me, and watched others with 'other' dectectors blow by me only to slam on their brakes to evade the trap. It consistantly has given me 1/4 to 1/2 mile more warning than anything else. I have had a solo and an escort - this is the best.

Valentine is the best by far. Works great for everything except laser. For that you need a jammer and the ones that work are very expensive. At least you're out of the Nazi state of Va. w/the ban.

V1 for sure! I have additional mounting brackets so I can use it in my Jetta and Squareback wink.gif Those directional arrows are what differentiate this unit above and beyond all others. Buy it!
