Ugly....whatever it is!
sean_v8_914
while I strongly agree with the "ugly", I cant help thinking about the fine craftsmanship that went into making this oddly styled creation. this guy has skills, albeit misguided and wild

A Lotus designed by Edsel Ford?

The windshield A pillar and door wing area sorta kinda looks like a 914.

V-8 midengine;

Hmmm... Agree that it's hideous, but there's a lot about it that looks 914 to me.

Shave the front tunnels and you'd have a very similar shaped front hood.

Downward sloping roofline looks very close

Side window profile looks very close, except more rake to the triangle corner window

Wheelbase actually looks pretty close (shortened door opening and longer rear overhang give the appearance of a longer WB)

Rear of sail panel looks like a spot-on match.

They claim it's completely scratch-built.

We would like to share with you a project handcrafted from flat
sheet metal entirely from scratch and taking 8 years (8000 hours)
to complete. It's not a rebody, kit car, etc.

Borrowing styling cues from classic European sports cars and
American muscle cars of the late 60's while maintaining modern
proportions a mid-engine 'retro supercar' was created. Further,
the SR-71 Blackbird played a key role with regards to the shape
of the vehicle - such as the concave surfaces flowing from the
front fenders and into the turbos. The interior design is based
loosely around a fighterjet cockpit. Our goal was to create
something that may have resembled a factory produced elegant
supercar in the 60's.

We chose to name it Rhythm for the simple reason that if you follow any line/reflection it has no beginning or end - they're continuous.
As for the powerplant, it's powered by a mid-engine 'hotrodded' SBC350 Chevy V8 mounted in a reverse rotation (pulleys facing the
back of the car) manner. The vehicle is licensed as a fully functional road vehicle.

I still see a lot of 914 and it stands to reason they'd begin with a cheaply-available, period-correct mid-engined chassis.

i surfed all the photos. this guy is a metal master. it is scratch built stem to stern. awesome skill and craftsmanship throughout.
not my cup of tea but still great work.

I agree with Sean,

I think this is more of a technical showcase of his skills rather than anything else.

Biggest problem is the small wheels/tires for such a large/long car. It just screams "Kit"
damesandhotrods
It’s ugly. And it’s ugly enough that I won’t even acknowledge his metal working skills, the major airline’s repair facilities are filled with guys with unbelievable metal working skills.

From the windows forward - looks like a Triumph - TR7.

Look at the first photo on the website, I'd say early 70's Camaro...

Appears to using 57 Ford tail lights ..............

One thing for sure ,,, if it doesn't look any where close to a 914 , folks here will flog it.

Ugly for sure. At least he has a V-8. It looks like the "Reverse rotation configuration" engine must be mounted to an Eldorado transaxle? confused24.gif
For 8000hrs I could see better things to build, GTM(s), airplane (s), Boat(s). Oh well he has tallent, time, and a nice shop....

to me the front overhang is too short, the rear overhang too long and the wheels too small. It seems like a childhood dream car where every cool car style imagined had been crammed into one design. there doesn't seem to be a unified design idea anywhere except for perhaps the tailpipe exit.
underthetire
Yer all wrong, it's a super rare robin mobile from the batman series.

That's my build project that I've been trying to keep under wraps (thanks Jeff) You guys can all bite me!
sean_v8_914
re-calibrate your eyes guys. dont try to look at it like a car you would drive or anything of serious styling intent. it's like a cartoon car brought to life. Dick Tracy meets Batman. in that context, I think its cool...groovy if you will.
sean_v8_914
I learned some neat fabrication tricks by studying his face book photos.

Edsel Ford would never have designed such an abomination. His sense of line, proportion and attention to fine detail was impeccable.
