I completed my 3.0 conversion over a year ago and have been using the OC61 oil filter on my DW Design oil tank. I used the OC61 based on feedback from this forum. My 911SC with the same motor but the OEM oil tank uses a OC54 filter. I was just on Pelican Parts and saw that they recommend the OC54 filter for " aluminum oil tanks " for a 914 with a six but they do not specify any brands of tank. It sure would be easier to maintain both cars if they can use the same OC54 filter. So what do you guys think ? What is the difference between these two filters ? Any of you guys using a OC54 on a DW Design tank with their oil filter console ?

Great discussion on the Pelican board about the filters ...

Mahle OC54 only

Porsche brand is made in US and inferior.

They also considered the WIX, Napa Gold, and a few others.

Google each one and read it for yourself.

I have a stock /6 oil tank and use the Mahle

Difference between 54 & 61

The link gives the main difference, but there are more threads.

Looks like I stay with the OC61 due to the hole size. Thanks for the reply and the link. beerchug.gif
