WOW, that sucks!!
On the bright side, you'll get some help financially with the demo and rebuild from the good hands people. At least if won't be completely out of pocket like it would have been otherwise. . .
Hope it all goes well with Allstate. They were pretty good when I had a small kitchen fire a couple years ago.

note the top of the door gap on the dr side. in the windshield top frame you can see and indentation. there's another on the pass side. the 2 dips are where the front top latches are located.

i'm surprised nobody noted the dash pad. prob one of, if not the nicest i've ever had. targa bar pad has 0 belms. both with be saved for future use at this point. lots of quality parts on the car. top shelve 75' style gage cluster with a 150mph speedo, nice int, axles, suspention bits, etc.
what you can't tell from the pictures is that the car is tweeked. the windshield frame may be bent back as well.
the adj is scheduled to show up on tues.

Kev, do your homework for the appraiser this weekend. Locate cars for sale and print the ads. It is very likely as nice as your appraiser will likely be he won't have a clue to the value of that clean car. Once his info goes into his computer and he locates some low value comps it will be harder for him to refigure his offer. Often his work is done in a data base and it's locked and uneditable. So best to help him up front that complain later.
Really, do it this weekend. Hand him the stuff.

My 2 cents....... If the bones of the car are as good as I think they are then it would make a great roller for someone to make a AX / Racercar out of. If given the chance I would keep all the "good" parts that you wanted and sell the tub off as a roller project. I hope all goes well with the adjuster.

Guys, looking at this most of the damage is cosmetic (from what I can see). I would be concerned about the damage at the drivers windshield. If it tweeked the windshield frame. But the windshield is coming out anyhow.
It is salvageable. If the car has no rust in the usual areas I'd look at restoration.
rhodyguy
Jan 29 2012, 08:06 PM
there's aspects of the damage that doesn't show in the pictures. the driver's window exploded and door opens about 2" prior to binding. 3 out of the 4 fenders. tons of ripples. i think the car sits askew as well.' jack engle has looked at the car.

I've fixed worse. It won't be cheap or easy but if it's a rust free car it's worth trying to save.
I you decide to strip it and transfer the parts to another car save the chassis. If it's solid in the hell hole I would be interested in it. I'm close to being ready to repaint this one. It was hit hard in the front. I saved both fenders and all the inner panels without using the Celette.
Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentI didn't even need any glazing filler or heavy primer after I pulled and bumped the inner panels back out.
Click to view attachmentCheck the rest of this thread Kev. Like I said. If I were closer...
