Not sure who, how, when or how much....

I think it would be cool. Have we ever looked into doing somthing like this for the club?
JeffBowlsby
I looked into them for the WCC, and depending on what you ordered they could be made reasonably. We would need artwork, and some discernment of expected quality. HTe cheaply made ones are...cheap. Good quality comes at a cost. Google on 'grille badge' and see what comes up.
thomasotten
Grill badges might scratch the paint on the grill. I think it would be better to have a 914Club window sticker.
Elliot_Cannon
Stickers are nice. I have 2 different ones and will soon have 2 different club hats. We need to decide on a logo if we're going to have one. A polo shirt with a logo on front ala the WCC shirt or a "T" shirt with a huge logo on the back. 2 cents worth.
Cheers, Elliot

Maybe our logo could read "914World.com - Don't try this with your mother's Boxster"
Trekkor
The badge idea is GREAT!!

The mounting hardware could include a rubber washer to allow the badge to stand off the grill and fasten from the underside with lock nuts to save the paint for those who care. wink.gif

Who wants a badge? I know I do.

Stickers are juvenile and tacky*. We need grill badges. They lend an air of sophistication. We should also get crested blazers and captains hats. wink.gif

Just kidding - I think a nice grill badge would be cool. Scratch the engine grill? Um... whatever.

-Ben M.

*No offense intended to those who've worked on stickers for the club. Any efforts to promote the club are great.
seanery
the grill badges you get from your region or national pca should have a rubber grommet. If not, you can get a whole slew of them for 1.99 at Lowe's/Home Despot.

I think that a cool thing would be a CNC machined aluminum badge that is then annodized, then remove the anodizing from the engraved logo and voila! smilie_pokal.gif
Trekkor
Some people like to mount them off the rear bumper or on a special badge license plate frame that accomodate two badges. One on each side. 914 and PCA?

Hey! I'll even put one on the side of my toilet tank! lol2.gif

we'll have our own wine and cheese club.....

boxed wine and velveeta cheese that is. laugh.gif chairfall.gif
GaroldShaffer
I would take one or two. If I remember correctly Barber Dave had one (and only one) made for his last meet in 2003.

More like home made wine and cheeze in a can... biggrin.gif

I could make them out of soap......just think, 3 or 4 washes and everyone would need a new one. wink.gif

Actually I have a guy that could make them...(out of metal) smile.gif
Aaron Cox
how dost thy obtain thoust soap in thy shape of thee 914?
GWN7
Magic... wink.gif

Each one of the WCC soaps I did took a sacrifice of one chicken part from the great KFC. (the kid didn't want to eat chicken for months afterwards) biggrin.gif

Ok, so I found a Mfg on line and sent them an email. I'll update this when I hear something.

I'd be in for one Grill Badge for sure...
thomasotten
While your checking on "badges" for the birds to look at on your grill, see if they can make for the 914 those mud flaps with the guy shooting guns. biggrin.gif

My grill is only 30.5" from the ground. Birds will see it, but so will EVERYONE else (except midgets and Carl in his Elise). I've seen several 914's with PCA badges on the corner of the grill and they looked rice. Nice. I mean they looked nice. (sigh)

thomasotten
Ok, Ok, if tastefully done, they look nice. But I still wouldn't want it scratching my grill - that Kylon Gloss-Black paint is almost $4 a can, man. Plus, most serious 914 tuners remove even the "PORSCHE" letters from their grill to improve cooling air entering surface area. wink.gif My PO did that for me. smash.gif
JoeSharpOld
I like it even if I have to bring the 2 boxes ( 1 wine, 1 chesse) to the gatherings. wink.gif

Speaking of grill paint. how do you paint the grill? Just plain black spray paint?

Better than window clutter .....

This is just one quote: What do you all think?

William: Thank you for the e-mail. I do not have a 1974 Porsche badge that you are looking for - sorry.

I can make a custom 914world.com badge. I visited your website and looked at the hat logo - nice. This would be a great logo for a badge. I attached picture and the artwork for the 912 badge that I make. I recommend two surface holes for mounting as it is more versatile.

Prices for a 3-inch hard enamel badge are:
25, badges $27.00 each
50, badges $18.00 each
75, badges $15.00 each
100, badges $12.00 each

The only other charge is delivery. Call me to order, I will hake a great badge for you. Thanks:
qa1142
one more this company does.

Anyone have a friend in 912 club we could follow up with?

check that the mounting holes will line up with the mesh in our grill..

Wow, that's a cheap thrill! I bet we could sell 500.

The mounting bolts would need to be moved to be a perfect fit.
seanery
looks like the holes should be 11/32" from the outer edge of the badge
anthony
Do they need to be perfect? I've seen many of the standard badges mounted on 914 grills.
JoeSharpOld
I LIKE IT. I'll take 4, please. Let me (us) know when you are ready to order and take money.
Joe
Aaron Cox
i was thinking chrome license plate borders that say 914world.com
anthony
You can already order 1-off license plate frames. I was thinking that we should do the cheap black plastic ones that mechanics give out to their customers. I actually priced them and the only downside was that you had to do a quantity of 500 or 1000 to get a good price.
mack914
I will take one. idea.gif
scottb
I would take 2 when they come available if the logo art is nice......
GWN7
The plastic plate frames are about $9.99 on Ebay.
Brando
sign me up for one badge once they're made... take paypal?

Also, badge idea is way better, since most of us PCA guys who don't have the PCA badge, have the PCA [Region] license plate frames smile.gif

Great idea will get two when the time comes. I love it when others put my dreams into reality. smilie_pokal.gif Keep us all posted, and thanks for all the work.

Will,

Recommend that you contact SirAndy (or Brad) on this project before you commit any resources to it.

Have a great day,

If they look classy, then I'll be in for 1 or perhaps 2. I really like the look of that 912 badge - very sharp and solid looking.
Bleyseng
What happened to that cool round design the Seanery did? That would look cool in a badge.

Wow. Everone should be ashamed. You left this conversation with THIS two years ago and haven't made a move since?!? I like the old badges, like on Gint's avatar. Is the demand still here for these?
gregrobbins
I'm in if they get produced.

Our local PCA club had a nice badge produced recently. I can check with Tina and find out where she got them. Check my blod for front and back photos. They are sold them for $25 each.
lotus_65
you gotta use Jeroen's logo!
