Over the past month the headlights have been causing the red gen light to come on and as of a few days ago, turning on the headlights kills the car. Anybody know of a common solution associated with this?

Well, I am an idiot. I disconnected every ground point, polished all the parts with a dremel, hosed em in silicone lube and reassembled and it's running like a champ with no red light. I also sprayed the relays by the headlamps and noticed one was rattling. Is this an indicator of the thing going bad?

pop it open and see. gently squeeze the middle w/ pliers and the cap/cover will pop off.

It went bad like old potato salad. I replaced it and it fixed what I thought was a myriad of intermittent small problems. Someone should make a list of things to fix or replace for a wiring tuneup...
