Replaced the shift rod bushings and balls on my tail shifter. BTW the tip about putting the firewall bushing in hot water before pressing it in works like a charm.
When I reassembled the gear shift the front bushing bracket has two M6 allen head screws that attach it to the gear selector plate in addition to the three 13mm bolts that hold the gear selector plate to the center tunnel. When I orginally removed the plate they were tight, now when I tighten the M6 allen head screws down the gear selector becomes very tight and binds up. What is the function of these bolts? I'm assuming (I know about assuming) that I reassembled things correctly, the bushing bracket tang is sandwiched between the bottom of the shift plate and the top of the tunnel rather than on the underside of the tunnel right?
Thanks in advance for any insight on this issue.
