How does one fix a trunk that will not stay up. I think someone heated the springs when they fixed the hinge bracket many years ago.

I second the question. I don't want the hydrolic lifts in the trunk. Is these a way to put new life in the bars?

I have a crack in a cinder block wall that one end of the spring fit into.
The other end, I rotated with considerable leverage and courage to get its Mojo back.
It worked and I lived.
