After getting a new key for the glove box, the lock worked perfect. Over time I ca no longer get the lock to work. Waht is the trick to this ???

sometimes, they rattle lose and you can't turn them anymore.

make sure the nut on the backside holding the lock is tight ...

The lock nut is tight, the cam turns correctly when I turn the key. When the door is closed, the cam is hitting something.

there's not much play in there, maybe you bend the glove box door hinge?

it has a little tab that is supposed to hit the lock part when the lock is in closed position, if that tab is bent it might prevent the lock from turning ...
