Saw this on Ebay....supposedly a car with 17,000 original miles on it. So why's he running carbs? bs.gif I might just have to go by and see this one, it's on my way to work.

I dont know about you, but low milage sports cars have always pissed me off. The 914 was never made to be a trailer queen... if you have one, DRIVE IT. I cant wait to drive mine <_<

I wondered if this car was going to show up somewhere. Here's a pic I took 2 weeks ago. Same car. Very nice looking, no rust was evident, but I didn't give it the 100pt inspection. I did pull up the carpets and poke around in the rockers. The right side under the battery looked, and felt solid, and looked original. The left side of the engine compartment, when I reached in with my hand was filled with wet dirt and debris. I pulled 2 handfuls out, and there was still a good bit left. Felt solid, but probably not for long...

It sold for $5,600.

Thanks Adam, man I hate it when I forget to put the "link" in a post slap.gif , done it before slap.gif alfred.gif

Looked at it again, and it does look pretty clean. Just can't figure why someone would slap carbs on a car with only 17,000 "original" miles. confused24.gif

Because it's desmogged, and 30 years old.

Not using injection doesn't make the injection new, and way back when, we were all told carbs were the ticket, there used to be multiple ads in normal mags, like R&T for 914 carb kits..

Performance 'upgrade'.

Look at all the vanitys.. I see euro signal lenses, and is that a wooden wheel?

It probably has rolled the odometer... probably.

hi ho silber
Adam,
Where did you see it?
Did it sell at an auction in/near PA for $5600?

Ineresting how they say "it shows 17,000." Nice plastic dash cap in pictures 25 & 26 (not knocking the cap I have one but my car has seen more than 17K)

If anyone really wants a current inspection on this car I'm sure Special K and I can work something out. Of course for that price($14,900.00 retail icon8.gif ) you might try to pick up Matt's car even through we all want him to keep it.
