Does anyone have recomendaiton on brake caliper paint? I got mine all cleaned up and want to pick a DIY product for painting them, something that can hold up to the heat and possibly the brake fluid too.

I had great results with Dupli-color brake caliper paint. It withstands brake fliud and gives a nice smooth finish. Once cured one cannot even dig a fingernail into it. smile.gif

Just takes a LOOONG time to cure. Better to paint and let sit overnight in the house before trying to install.

I used the G2 system which is 2 part epoxy, very durable

I used Eastwood Ceramic Caliper Paint Kit Silver:

Looks great, but I cannot say how durable it is as the car is still in the air.

Maybe longer. The can (Duplicolor) says it cures in about a week. Dry in about an hour. I painted mine and turned them after a few hours. When I picked them up some paint stuck to the wood it was on and peeled of the caliper. Just where it made contact, but still.

I would suggest suspending them. An old brake line will hold it up and block off the hole.

I have more than enough to do a few more sets, but would not feel comfortable shipping since it has been opened.

Anyone local need some?

I've been happy with other Dupli-color paints, but not their caliper paint - I've had brake fluid and brake cleaner eat it up on three cars - calipers scrubbed with brake cleaner, wire brushed with a drill, then final wipe off with wax/degreaser paint prep. Beyond that it has not flaked and the color has not faded. Not sure what to try next...

I also used G2 (on my truck). Since it is an epoxy and not a paint, it seems as it would be more durable, and still looks new after almost 3 yrs.

I've also heard good things about the duplicolor products but have no experience.

Interesting, when I first used the paint a bit of fliud got on it the next morning and it left a mark ......... I touched it up and figured it was not fully cured ...... after two weeks of cure time, it was able to withstand subsequent brief brake fluid assaults smile.gif. ......... however I would not want to try a long term exposure ....... at least not on my calipers wink.gif

Thanks, Tried the Dupli-Color Caliper paint, seems to work nice, heat cured with with flood lamp over night, This paint seems to resist fluid pretty well. Regular spray paint would not survive the fluid.

^^ hot lamp cure is a good idea!!! smile.gif
