I don't think there was ever a silver emblem, but a lot of the black anodized emblems faded to a pewter color.

Uh, Dave. These were on my 73 when I bought it brand new. They were "silver" then and still are. They were never black!!!!!!!

Heck, I need a 1.8, a 1.7 and a 2.0 badge...

Reason? Fliping the 2 to make a 5, and putting the numbers together to make...

The first silver emblems are metal, hot off the tail end of gold metal ones.
