for my B-day, on the 31st. i would like a carpet kit. currently my car has tan carpet floating directly on top of the floor pans. are there supposed to be padding under the carpet? also, where should i buy my black carpet from? what vendor? also, how hard is it to install?
Lawrence
I got my kit from Perry Keihl. It was fairly inexpensive and required some fitting, but it has worn very well over the last 20,000 miles.

I replaced mine recently. Not a very difficult project. I didn't go w/ a kit I bought the carpet and cut the individual pieces. I had an upholstery shop bind the floor mats & sew the heel pad on for me. Glued special rubber nib material to the back of the floor mats so they don't shift around.

Take it from somone who just did this, I would think twice about using black. The black shows foot prints and every little speck of lint. If I had it to do over I would use the salt & pepper, gray black or just solid gray.

does he have a way to contact him?
n e 1 bought a kit from PP, AA, Perf. Prod., Tweeks?

is there sometjing between floor pans and carpet?
Lawrence
Between carpet and floorboards? Only soundproofing.

You wouldn't want anything else there, like padding - it would just become a sponge to hold water against the floor.

a914man@netease.com is Perry's address.

Two good sources for carpet kits are Autos International and Original Fit Interiors.

Just put in a kit from Origianl Fit and it was great. It is a salt and pepper material or a gray. Fit was perfect, he put a heavy material under the drivers side and passeger side so they keep there shape and don't shift around.

Here is what mine looks like. Short dense black cut pile.

I went with the black also and when it is clean it looks great! I am going to get floor matts to cover the new carpet and protect against the "footprints"!

It was very easy to install just keep track of which pieces are glued and which are not!

Jeff! For such a pretty car.. you have dirty air vents.

Remove the bottom dash, pop those baby's out and run them throught the dishwasher.

30 years of dust and dirt have stuck to it!
Qarl
Jeff...

What kind of carpet? Domestic, foreign? It looks like a dense pile or maybe sliverknit. Is it from a kit or from an interior place?

Thanks,

Karl

If you contact cement this nib material to the backs of the floors, it will keep them flat.
Qarl
Jeff... Give you a brake? okay here is a nice set. Or do you need a break?

Lighten up... there WAS a compliment in there if you read between the lines.
