I recently lowered the front suspension on the '73 914 2.7.
I believe the rack needs to be spaced to reduce the bumpsteer and the tie rods need to be be adjusted.
Do I need special steering rack spacers or can I simply use washers and longer bolts?
How much should I space the steering rack? Should I space the rack until the tie rods are horizontal?
What should the toe-in be set at for a track car that is occasionally driven on the street?
Thanks

Eddie,
Lots and lots of places sell generic bump steer kits. It only works for cars lowered "X" amount. To really set bump on your car you need to have it on an alignment rack so you can see how much bump the car has in it as you jounce the car up and down on the turn plates. To properly adjust it you would have to experiment with shims under the rack or go to a tie rod end that allows you to adjust out at the strut.
I like to run a 1/16th of toe in on 6cyl cars and some 4cyl cars.
