Any suggestions are appreciated. I just went for a quick ride in my fuel injected 75 914 1.8L. I noticed along the way the RPMs were showing "0", no voltage showing, the red alternator light was on...BUT when I got home and started it again, I checked and the alternator belt was fine and was turning the alternator. No fuses had blown. I am running a new/fully charged Optima R34 which allowed me to start the car several times in this condition.

Does this mean...a new alternator?

And now we both have-many thanks-couldn't see the melted aluminum on fuse #9 with the clear cover on. Many thanks-solved the issue.
