Short term: Get it moving. It's been waaayyyy to long! Looks like that will take me a couple of weeks.

Loooonnnnngggg term: Send it up to mark in napa for some needed rustoration and stiffening. Then maybe a nice paint job and some interior work.

The basic idea here is that it's been on jackstands so long that I'm starting to forget what it felt like to drive. So, I'll probably love driving it and put off the long term stuff for a very long time.

Frankly, I don't have the skill or money to make my 914 run well enough to be a reliable car. I'd rather pour money into my miata for now and get started in auto-x, and then get a pre smog 914.

Well I made my short term goal from when this thread was started and did get to drive my car for a couple of weeks. But the 1.7 was tired and leaking and making funny noises, it was fun while it lasted.
