Any good way to cleaning these rusty connectors?

Radio Shack sells " contact cleaner" some come in bottles with a bristle brush attached to help scrub away gunk. the contact cleaner wont harm the plastic, but makes quick work of grime.

you may wnat to use a tooth pick or such to get down in there also and scrape away.

also the connectors can sort of self clean by inserting and removing an opposite (male) connector many times, this will wipe away the dirt. do this in conjunction with the radio shack contact cleaner,
get it wet and work the male end in and out until your worn out.

You can remove the connector from the plastic plug by using a dental pick to press the little tab. You should be able to see the tab in the little notch. (notice the slots are not rectangles). You may have to get the tab from the other side.

I would do 1 at a time. Contact cleaner. Make sure the tab is out a bit and put them back in.

The connectors will oxidize but don't rust as they are copper or are they brass? -You can use a wire brush. The contact cleaner is good because it is like a dielectric version of wd40, to keep them from quickly oxidizing again.

Dip them in coke and let them sit for an hour. Re dip and rinse in distilled water. Spray with electrical contact lube.
