Basic question here - Plug on the left is new plug that my FLAPS sold me. Plug on right is what was in the car when I got it. They are both Autolite. I know NGK but that is all they had. Can someone give me the NGK number for a 71 1.7L with D-jet. How about why they are 2 dif. lengths.

A search on NGK's website comes up with B6ES and shows a plug with the longer threads. Bummer that the FLAPS couldn't give me the right plug given year and engine size. Lesson learned.

Don't mess with those junk FLAPS plugs!!!!

Get Bosch supers ....they have rolled threads and won't strip the plug holes on your heads.

NGK's are my second choice, I only use them on hipo engines.

Any bug shop will have the supers...or go to a VW dealer...pay the extra buck or two.
