Jeroen
Oct 8 2004, 04:57 AM
That font sucks
I know, because I made it (something like 8 years ago)
The person that added the numbers to it was even worse
It's fun to see it pop-up everywhere though...
I've seen it on numerous Porsche sites, ads in mags, even on tv and most recently on a Renault factory racer
If everybody who uses it paid me a dime, I'd be f-ing rich

next time you're in Philadelphia, i'll give you a dime.
Eurostil is pretty similar, the numbers might work for you...

If you send me this file, I will try to put together something with a buddy of mine here at my work. He does vinyl cutting as a side business. I have been looking for the 76' 914 2.0 sticker font. With this, I could have him make anything we want. 914-6 2.7
914-8 5.7
ect.
He has already said he will do it for cheap, hence I could take pic's and pass along the cheapness to club members.
Me, I want to make a 914-6 2.2

ok, dumb question. how do you get the font to work in word?
thanks in advance......

download the font, copy it to your "fonts" directory.
If word is open, close it then reopen it.

I like those posters. If those are your illustrations you should sell those. If they are scans I wouldn't sell them. They look similar to the Excellence illustrations.

They are not for sale. I don't actually own the original illustrations based my work off of. It was just a personal project I did for a class I teach in Photoshop design. The project was to make a design that you could quickly make changes to. Using multiple layer sets, masks and Adjustment layers in the process.
If you are interested I know the original illustrator is open for business and should be able to do anything you would want. His prices start at $350 and go up to a few thousand for a poster.

ahhhh, the f&%^$ing BBS adds a linebreak to the start of the file.
you can either open the file in a hex-editor and remove the leading "0D 0A" or download the attached ZIP file ...

The zip file didn't work for me so I edited the .ttf file and removed the offending characters.
Works!
Need to look for the font '911 porscha' at the top of the list.
Thanks Andy, Mark, etc.

If you haven't already, download the .ttf file from Andy's post.
If you don't have a hex editor go to the following link and download the zip file for XVI32. Don't use Word or Notepad!
XVI32 hex editorFollow the instructions from the website to install XVI32.
Execute the .exe file to run XVI32 or open your own hex editor.
Open the .ttf file from the editor.
The first two characters (0D 0A) are the ones you want to delete. Just press the delete button twice.
(See the screen shot below of the file open in the hex editor.)
Save the file just like saving any other windows document.
Copy the corrected .ttf file to your font folder (c:\windows\font?)
Open Word and you should have the font '911 porscha' available.
Good luck.
