I've got SS brake lines on my teener. I've read they are hazardous because the SS braiding could fray and puncture the brake lines. I know they offer an advantage because they do not expand as much as the straight rubber lines. Ever have one fail? Where are they the most likely to fail? How often should they be inspected or replaced? Thanks

I did have a front line fail on me years ago. It just blew out while I was pumpng it . Pedal went slowly to the floor. But it still maintained pressure on three wheels so it wasn't a big deal.

Like anything else, they need to be checked evey once and a while.

the lines I got from GPR a couple weeks ago have a clear vinyl cover, similar to what I put on my Harley couple years ago.

The problem with braided SS lines is less from the braiding than from the teflon liner that breaks down from the lines flexing. They definitely don't last as long as OEM in street use, and visual inspections may not reveal a problem that exists inside. I always reommend OEM for street applications, especially on a car that is driven frequently.
