Check this one out, this shop is rebuilding a 996 TT motor and showing how it's done. There are lots and lots of high dollor factory tools required to do it...and you guys thought a type-4 rebuild was pricey.

Basically it is a Carrera cup/GT3RSR engine built on a 993 3.6 case.
The oil pump he references fits in the 993 engines also...

How hard is it to increase the bore on those motors? What other things can be changed/upgraded to increase power?

How much do you need ?? The current 3.6 engine for the GT3RSR dumps out over 480hp on 100 octane race gas naturally aspirated.

Dyno testing over 300 engines yearly... The engines spin 9k rpm. They make NO power below 6k RPM.
I met the guy from ImagineAuto in Texas. His wife is HOT.

Bring a wheelbarrow load of money and dump it in Porsche's lap. .....piece of cake
N/A F1 cars are 3.0L & 900 hp......ya need a dump truck load of money.....maybe 2.
