I propose we do some sort of fundraiser for our fearless web guys. I don't know the ins and outs of such a deal, but we could donate to Andy for buying some new state of the art black box or just a pallet of beer. Lets here some ideas for and against.

UPDATE:

QUOTE
Alright guys I have setup a Paypal account (against my better judgement). You can send your donations to the Paypal Account:

*Removed address as fundraiser is over*

If you are like me and don't use Paypal that is fine as well, you can PM me for an address a send me a check made out to Andy and I will forward it.

I will be keeping an excel spreadsheet of who donated and how much. That list is not for public use, but if there is some dispute as to when and how much someone sent I will have that data.

WHEN you send your donation (or use Paypal) make sure you include your 914 world User name and your real name. I want to make sure I can keep track of every penny.

For.

For. Let's set up something via Paypal to make it easy.
andys
I'd step up for that! But please, no Paypal only transactions.

For. Any forum I've ever been a part of has needed some kind of financial support, be it paid memberships for advanced features, or just donations to help out... I was suprised when I couldn't find a "donate" option when I joined here!

I just talked with Mike Wills and we both think that is very appo. I had pleaged $100 to Mike to start the fund. So what would you like to do Bert. I asked Mike to manage a fund because he started all of this. So lets not start 2, where would you like to go with this. Mike has paypal and Andy's address as he was going to send a card and money for a nite out for him and Amoy.
I know Andy will never ask, so lets do something for him.
He is my Hero.
BajaXJ92
Its true, we do take a lot away from here with the vast collective knowledge of our members and we're lucky enough to have Andy contain that to one small corner of the world.

Maybe something as simple as a $20/yr donation will get you a gold star by your name.

And if you're an asshole, you get a stromberg.gif and a hissyfit.gif by your name.

With that said, I am for. beerchug.gif

Ill bake the cookies !!! smile.gif)

Andy has already read this so he knows what where up too.
Brett W
I don't do Paypal, but can send a check or something somewhere. We will have Andy post his home address here so the world knows where to send money. Lol. Just kidding. I am sure we can figure it out.

Andy, you like dark beers?

914club was just that.... And the reason the 914world split from the 914 club. With 200 active members here, at $20+ a year, your talking a good 4k+ a year... Not including the ads up top. Which based on my understandings, the ads by the vendors are what funds the site. I have a hard time believing that thats going to fly..

IMHO the only way you'll get admins to accept "contributions" is if you buy them a beer or slip a $50 in their pocket without them noticing..

Dont get me wrong, I fully support this site, Andy, and the community. I just think there is a better way of going about supporting the site from a members standpoint than direct monetary contributions.

I think Joe's idea is the best, a gift card for Amoy and Andy sound like a great idea! Joe, which Mike are we talking about?

I'm all for what ever you guys decide to do. I've always thought it would be good to give something to them. Why is it wrong to contribute $ when not required? I only hate it when it is required.

Hence why I said "donation". dry.gif

Doesn't have to be required whatsoever, but a gold star or something of the like does show that you care enough about the site to contribute. confused24.gif

I have the utmost respect for the culpret but he was the one that asked the question. MOVEQUICK. Mike Wills. Number 2 on NARP and I thought it would be apprapo that he to give not only of his money but some time too. Not to punnish him but to help him with his guilt trip. biggrin.gif
Come on you guys anyone of us could have asked that question.
So this is my proposal.
From PM's on NARP I know Mike has Andy's address, he also has Paypal.
I will have to send him a check so we will have to work out some details.
I can moderate the thread to make sure all the donations go to the account and post them on the thread.
Mike says he would be flexable so I think we can do something good here for someone that give us so much and asks for nothing in return.

absolutely in.

I donated to the club, and I would donate here too. I don't need a star by my name. I do find it interesting that this only comes up when there has been a disaster and never when things are going good. Andy does what he does because of the love he has for our cars and for this place. I do think a donation button is great, but no recognition please.

In - Definitely in....
pt_700
i'm in with whatever way we decide to contribute to this site.

spent a little time on klr.net in the world's absense and there's an option to be a paying member there. i'd gladly do so here as well.

I wouldn't say its necessarily about recognition as it is more of a gesture of support.

As an example, if there was a member with a gold star that I was considering purchasing a part and/or car from, I'd be more trusting of that member as they're obviously involved enough in the site and care enough to contribute to the community. Not to say that you shouldn't trust a non-starred member, or that those that do not have a star don't care about the community or are out to screw someone over.

Its just an idea, lets not get all sensitive and stromberg.gif.
SLITS
We have done this before when new equipment was needed.

Those who donated whatever amount ... were titled as a group "Benefactors" and had a heart in the avatar area.

And it's still a good idea to fund Andy for whatever purpose he wants to use it for.
porschefile2010
I'm in. No reason why Andy should carry the can on his own. Will keep an eye out as to how to pay by Paypal-email address needed.
Socalandy
This is awesome!!! I'm in and waiting for payment info.

I said it on NARP and I'll say it here; IN!

The amount of time Andy puts into this joint is beyond belief. Anything I can do would be a pleasure.

I'm in. I'll keep an eye out for final instructions.

Nothing against the NARP guys, but this thread was about donating to Andy. I don't much care if you get a little red star by your name. You aren't donating to join a special club. You are donating because Andy worked his ass off to beat down some little "haxzor" and I think he deserves a Twinky and some new black box with which to beat down more "haxzors". Donate to world all you want, but this one is for Andy.

beer3.gif

BTW, I like the idea of sending a check or MO. That way you have to get off your butts, and mail a check not just hit some little button on a screen and then feel good about yourself. If Andy can bust ass to fix the site, the least you can do is take the time to mail a check.
d914
hey hey hey.... it takes a lot of effort to hit that button!! smile.gif
Stamps, checks envelopes???? I'll have to order some!!

Yep. beerchug.gif

Ok this is what I can do...Have some one do a cool shirt design (KISS)
one color on a light shirt front or back, And sell them with all the moneys...going to Andy..Because I have no over head....we can do it for almost nothing. and still come out ahead,
every one that sends in a cool donation (above $20) get's a cool shirt.

It would only be the cost of the shirt.....very low.

Can we please put this myth to the recycle bin once and for all? Please?

Not one cent from the Ads has ever gone to anyone other than charity!

In fact, we never even see the money!
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=81132

All proceeds from Ads go to charity. Always have, always will ...

Brett: You are absoultly right. This hole thing is about Andy so lets make sure it goes to Andy. I think it would be really bitchen if we could help out with the Turbos. Maybe fuel and tires for the race car. I don't care if it goes to Fredricks of Hollywood. What ever he wants.
I fowareded Mikes PM to you on NARP.

Count me in! I live too far away to buy Andy a beer.

Thanks Andy beerchug.gif beer3.gif beer.gif

100% This is an amazing thing going on here. The admins do a great job keeping this going and what Andy does is way above and beyond.

If you can contribute, great. If you can't, no sweat.

I don't care if the money goes to hair dye and a new pair of Doc's.

Or membership in a tanning salon. (face it - the guy lives in California and he's the colour of an onion)

Or if my donation enables me to go in and edit other people's posts unsure.gif

I'm in as long as I can pay with paypal

Hey guys. A very cool idea. However, I have already sent a small thank you Andy's way. So organize away and good luck!

I am so getting Andy a Fredrick's of Hollywood Gift Card.

Heck yes; of course I am in. This little addiction is way cheaper than a hooker and hotel room for entertainment blink.gif and thus far has not cost me my marriage. Whatever is decided I will donate. Love my car and love this site.

I say we chip in for a well deserved vacation for Andy lets say Hawaii or em the fatherland beerchug.gif

I am all for doing something nice for Andy. I will stay tuned ready to contribute!
shoguneagle
I think we should all buy and drink a beer or two in Andy's name; then, we should give some gift/money to Andy for a "great job well done". Just look at the hours he put in in straightening out the web site which got hit by a "bunch of assholes"!!!

This means I am definitely for this suggestion.
