I have this one from harbor frieght with this yoke from the samba.

Total cost, under $200 (some assembly required).

That is the way to go.
I have that setup.

Damn! I wish I had seen that one from samba.
I just paid $270 for one that looks the same from pelican.

Does that engine yoke have the right clearance to enable you to remove and install the flywheel with the motor on it??

Any engine tin interference??

I have one of those (from a few years ago) and have all those issues with mine. Damned frustrating to deal with. . .

I've been using a Harborfreight style stand and one of these yokes for years. now. No problems so far and it has remained to be sturdy.

I got a nicer stand from Pep Boys ( I'll take a picture later)

What's really nice is that when I'm not using it ( hardly ever) it folds up

Thanks for the suggestions. I will make the rounds this am.

Make sure what ever you get has 4 wheels. They move around freely and have better balance.

Just make sure it doesnt do that with the engine on it.
When I was 18, I was rebuilding the 6 cyl from my buick skylark.

I was struggling with moving the engine around the shop when the front wheel dropped in the expansion joint in the floor of the garage. The single front wheel support pulled completely out of the stand and dropped the engine right between my legs front cover first on the concrete. My brother pulled into the driveway just seconds after this happened and asked why I was standing there kicking the engine while it was down. I could only reply " because it TRIED TO KILL ME!"

Not as graphic as the jackstand thread but could have been worse.

Check that the pins are all in place with restraints (tie-wire)
