If nothing else you could always visit Sean at SDS and do lunch. He has some unique places to eat not far from his shop.

The vw classic is going on on the 10th in Irvine a bit to the north. I was there a few years ago and saw about 3 driver condition 914's, a very nice 6, not sure if it was real, and a baja 914, which I should have had a camera for.
