After a year, I finally installed the motor back in my 914! piratenanner.gif piratenanner.gif

...And I got to thinking...
Is it OK to eyeball the motor alignment to the body in the engine compartment? Engine and Transmission support bolts eyeball the same alignment in the holes and it looks straight but it could be a couple mm out of perfect

How far out of alignment can a motor be without being a problem?

The tranny helps to center if you push forward. The alignment would mean a weight shift from center. If the engine were to be offset, push to the right to help balance the driver. Dodge and Plymouth did this in the 60's-70's on production cars to help drag racing. The CV missalignment is minor and would be less angle than the trailing arm movement.
