Full Version: Things in a 914 that are fed with no fuse

Was going over the prints on the Pelican site and I just am baffled by how many things in our cars are unfused.
One of the 4.0mm wires from the battery feeds directly to terminal 30 of the key switch. When the key switch is turned to on; the headlight switch is powered, the coil is powered, the seat belt relay is powered. All not having gone through a fuse.
The other 4.0 from the battery goes to the hot side of fuses 10,11,+12. this also feeds power to J13 (fresh air blower relay) and headlight switch, both unfused.
I wonder if anyone else has noticed this?

My list of unfused items includes:

Ignition switch
Main power relay
Fuel injection ECU
Starter motor
Headlamp switch
Fog lamp indicator lamp
Seat belt warning buzzer
Fasten sealt belt lamp on dash

Is there more?

Yeah, that had me worried too. When I modified the wiring for my V8 conversion, I ran the main power feeds through circuit breakers in an abreviated power distribution center similar to what modern day cars use.

So Tom, would your kit put a fuse in front of those items?
falconfp2001
I didn't notice your thread Tom or I would have been in on that.
Tom
Sean,
Yes, it fuses the red wires at the battery before they enter the harness.
Falconfp2001,
I will be doing some more kits sometime in the future. I'll PM you then in case you don't see the thread.
