Trying to align the shift rod. I can feel the detents by moving the selector forward and backward but not sure of the up and down movement.

When the selector is up, is that for the 4 & 5 gears or is that for R & 1 ?

Also, I don't feel a positive stop at the center (2 & 3) gear. How do you make sure you are in the 2 & 3 plane?

Up is 1&R and forward is 1.

I don't think you can feel positive stops for 2&3 so go half way between up & down If you are in the right place, you will be able to move the selector forward and back, otherwise not.
