Taking my dual weber 2056from it's home at sea level over ebbets pass (8700 ft)next week. Doing a valve adjust before, and general check, but is there anything specific I should do? Think I will need to fiddle with the idle mixtures urging the drive?

Any honks are welcome.
SLITS
Yeah, don't shut it off and expect to start again biggrin.gif

Be sure that you packed your AAA card.

I have a 2.2 liter type IV tuned for sea level. I had it just above 10,000 feet at the Atomic Ramble in Albequerque New Mexico and it ran fine. It started EVERY time. Keep the revs up so the plugs dont foul and it should be OK. (Don't listen to SLITS. Since he installed the "6" in his car he has become somewhat of a PCA snob). happy11.gif lol-2.gif

Ask to borrow Slits portable oxygen bottle and duct tape it in engine bay until you need it. lol-2.gif

True dat. beerchug.gif We've done a couple runs up Mt. Evans - stopping is bad.

You guys are killing me. I have beverage on my screen from a few of those comments.

I almost hate to do a valve adjust even, since the car is pulling really well. But then, I have been in LA all week on biz, so lets she what she sounds like in the morning. The garage elves have probably been at it.

Thanks Elliot, for being at least ONE positive note.

I'm wondering about this too, since I'm thinking about driving out to Red Rocks. "Don't stop" isn't gonna work as advice for a multi-day trip... Anybody care to speak to why altitude is a problem, and what you can do about it?

I'm guessing that high enough altitude means enough of a drop in atmospheric density that the air/fuel charge is off and the car runs too rich. There are mixture adjustment screws we'd want to find, mark the position for home, then at a certain altitude lean it out a bit, counting the turns? confused24.gif

You nailed it. That's why carbed airplanes have a mixture control.

The higher you go, the less dense the air, the richer the car will run.

You should be just fine, but the car may start harder at altitude.

Thanks SLITS. The -6 is already running pretty rich, to judge by my nose, and I hope to get that sorted out soon. Will keep the potential need to tweak for altitude in mind when I do so. I've got Webers too, so maybe the knowledge will carry over from triples to duals if I find jeffdon stranded along the way somewhere... wink.gif
