I was wanting to remove the points and install electronic ignition.
What is the most common, most reliable and cost effective manufacturer?
Any help here?

Pertronix, or my preference, compu-fire.

If all you want is a points replacement, the
Pertronix Ignitor is the most popular.

Optical triggers are probably better than Pertonix. The newer Pertronix are better than the one's of the 80's.
Pertronix are very easy to install and don't require any extensive modifications.

I have the Pertronix and am very happy, my idle settled down and engine felt a little smoother, have put over 1000 trouble free KM on since the install. Will keep the points in the glovebox as a backup cause people smarter than me said to do that!
