Tryin' to get this thing ready to leave tomorrow. I just did some front end work: shocks, turbo tie rods, all new brakes, sway bar bushings, ball joints, wheel bearings. I had the adjusters all the way out, one torsion bar "cap" fell off, I don't think the other one did. When I put the car back on the ground the passenger side didn't want to compress at all. So I jacked it up, took out the adjuster screw and lowered it slowly to see if something was binding. Nope, It went right down. So it seems I have no idea what I'm doing with the torsion bars. What am I doing wrong? It goes in for an alignment in the morning and then it's a 300 mile trip to Indiana.

What am I doing wrong?

too much pre-load on the torsion bar ???

lift up the front (both sides at the same time to unload the suspension)
unscrew the adjuster bolt, take off the adjuster cap, re-index the cap equal on both sides, screw the adjuster-bolt back in, lower car, adjust rideheight.

that should do it ...
