One year ago this week, I joined 914World. At the time I own my teener 38 years. I thought I knew a lot about my car. Turns out I didn’t know Jack S#&%! If there was ever a book called “Teeners for Dummies” I would definitely need it!

I have learned more about my 914 during the past 12 months than all other 38 years combined. And the reason is because of all the wonderful people on this forum. Y’all have given me valuable advice and help plus I have purchased some parts from 914World members plus vendors that support 914World. I have bookmarked a lot of the vendors based on your recommendations. I have even sold some parts too!

I have tackled jobs on my teener that I would never had done before 914World. I discovered that some yo-yo had replaced my yellow injectors with green ones! I didn’t know there were different injectors until 914World.! I changed to the correct ones and my teener really runs better not to mention it gets better gas mileage! Scotty B really helped me out on changing my steering coupler. Even the Cap has given me advice!

I have even given some very minor advice on this forum to "rookies." Who knows, in about five years I might even pull the motor and do an overhaul!

i feel the same way. i've owned mine almost 20 years now and being here has increased my appreciation and enjoyment of the car tremendously. a shout out to forum member smokey for introducing me to this place as well!

since joining the madness here, i've gone out and found similar (but, none better) forums for each of my vehicles!

I remeber when I first owned a 914 years ago I would open the engine lid, look in and thnk, how do I work on this this??

Now because of this forum I'm rebuilding one almost from scatch. With all its parts it cool to know you can take this car apart and put back together with help from eveyone on this forum!

In 1977 your available resources were the Haynes manual and a VW engine book or two. Almost nobody to talk to. Imagine trying to solve some of the problems that are dealt with here on a daily basis with only those sources. The ongoing discussion about the MPS's for example.

I continue to be amazed.

I have no idea how you all did this stuff without the internet. My first car was an '84 T-Bird and I lost count of all the stupid things I did wrong on that car that would have been done correctly had I had a forum like this. I've only been here 4-5 months and feel like I've picked up a plethora of information and most of what I've done has been successful. Thanks to everyone for their continued help!
