My wipers have stopped working; and I'd like to get them fixed.

I've read that you can't get the mechanism out without removing the fuel tank.. is that right??

Has anyone removed and refubished their wiper mechanism?? Is there a decent troubleshooting guide or a thread I should read? I looked around and didn't find much... seems like the wipers much be reasonably reliable smile.gif.

i did mine while the tank was out. that one bolt on the dash is difficult. no room to maneuver. with the tank in makes it even worse.

I wouldn't suspect the wiper motor first.

1. check fuse #8
2. pull the connector under the dash and test for +12v on the red/black wire
3. jumper the red/black wire to the black/blue wire and see if the wipers move
4. jumper the red/black wire to the black/purple wire and see if the wipers move
5. if none of the above, start pulling components because the wiper motor can't come out without removing the fresh air box, and the fresh air box can't come out without pulling the tank sad.gif

Or jump in a take a drive up to Sonoma. wink.gif
