Have 73 2.0 and on both sides the links just fell off.
Car only has 30K miles but has not moved since 85.

Anyone know what to do to get these fixed? newby??
TheCabinetmaker
They just pop in. Now, Just pop in is an understatement. They can be a bear to get in. I use a little oil or slick grease, an extra pair of hands, and clamp to press them in. If they poped out, they may need to be replaced or they'll just pop back out again.

Where can you get the new "link"? The rubber or plastic on around the ball are worn out.
They just fall off when you put them back on.....??
TheCabinetmaker
You just replace the plastic bushings.

Is this a Pellican Part thing?
JawjaPorsche
Yes, Pelican has them: I used grease and c-clamps to get them on.

I use a REALLY big pair of channel locks to put the links on the ball.

And yes, replace the bushings. They are cheap.

In the past, I have used the bark off a Pinus jeffreyi, but afterwards, I moved to
Redwood because of it's fire-retardant properties.

"I think they were talking about Sway Bars, not Sway barks."

"Oh ! Never mind"

the bark is worse than the bite

Boil in water to soften them ... apply liberal amounts of grease .. pop them in links .. make sure you get the orientation correct or you'll be pissed.

Oh & if you do happen to lose one or both of them, they are being sold by a vendor in the classifieds!

Some racers will disconnect the rear and use just the fronts.

Depends on the track and the conditions.
Maybe they just forgot to hook them back up last time.

I used to do it that way, my hands are just not that strong anymore

My rear links on one car were disconnected, and same was done on a friends car, both cars handled better with the rear bar unhooked. We tied up the loose bar with some bailing wire.

I dont like the rear bars handling. A front bar, a real fat one is nice.

Your bushing is toast. I can see part of it stuck on the sway bar and the remainder still in the link.
