Okay, there was talk about what the pros and cons of different oil weights were.

One of them caused higher pressure (maybe) and would bypass the cooler?? Which was that? Cause I don't want to bypass the cooler.

Many of us run 20w50 in the summer. But that is thick for winter driving. So those who drive in the cold often move to 10w30.

Some advocate 10w30 all year round, but for others 10w30 get a little too thin when the engine is hot and they are on the edge of low pressure.

Make sure you use good oil (high zddp - not made for modern cars) and see what your car likes. If your engine likes 10w 30, use it. If you see the oil lift glowing dimly at stop signs after a good hard run, that is the cue you need thicker oil.

I just use 20w50 Brad Penn and dont drive my car when temps are below freezing.
