What he said! I put a set of these on my 72 and got the holes too low so they looked like droopy rabbit ears. I never did get them right. Fortunately, I was planning to replace the doors with late 73 doors so it wasn't a loss. I've never tried again to mount them.
To avoid this problem, I've asked several times on this board for someone who has them to have mercy and trace their doors to create a template so that the holes can be done right the first time. I've yet to see anyone do this, but it would be very much appreciated since the same holes go for the more modern, rounded 911 mirrors that IMO look much better on a 914.
