I traded for a pair of what I was told were two liter heads, then I bought a set of what I was told were two liter valves. Machine shop says valves are way bigger than the ones in the heads.
Can someone help me with measurements and pictures? Somebody hosed me and It would be nice to know who dry.gif
Heads are at machine shop so I cant photograph them yet...
Thanks-

Maybe you bought Bus 2.0L heads?

Number of intake studs? You want three, four studs mean it's not a 2.0 914 head.

The Tunacan site is a good reference. Valve sizes for the original parts can be found in this table: http://www.tunacan.net/t4/reference/cylhead.htm

42mm x 36mm for the two-liter 914 heads.

What about 48x38 intake and exhaust valves? I received a set of such valves as part of a package deal.

Thanks

That would be for "custom" seat and port work.

Would these custom seat & port work be necessary for a 2270 or larger displacement type 4?

Thanks

2.0 914 head (3 bolt, 039) will work because they have big valves (42X36mm) and ports. Any other head you should open them up with bigger valves, seats and port work.

IMHO you shouldn't go bigger than 44mm X 38mm, so I'd toss the 48mm valves. Dual springs are required on anything bigger than a stock cam.
